Vinomofo Wine Deals

Apologies if this has been posted previously but does anyone have an idea as to what this 2009 Cab Sav might be?

Clues: James Halliday 5 Star Winery; 5th generation family producer; not sold via VM for 4 years; "one of the most famous winemakers in Australia"

It has been discussed before: https://www.cellarone.com.au/red/by-brand/grant-burge/grant-burge-corryton-estate-cabernet-sauvignon

Has anyone tried the Rock Ferry Estate Pinot Noir 2013 that's currently on offer on VM for $24 vs $60 at the winery, which I couldn't find on their website? Are there better alternatives at that price point?

have not tried but found the mornington pen mystery pinot (seaglass) very good at discounted price

still strong after 3 days so will also keep well ....bought another case after trying

Jet123 -
I (perhaps mistakenly) thought it was Kerrigan + Berry...
...but I didn't realise that they'd been a Black Market deal before (and therefore discounted)
Arriving next Tue so a week before I find out

If it has been sent you should be able to track it on nextday - it should also reveal the identity

At Albert Heijn supermarkt you can buy Hardy's shiraz for around eu4, Taylors, Penfolds Rawsons Retreat, Lindemans, Rosemount, Jacobs Creek all for around eu6 etc. All quaffers but cheaper than here in Oz.
French muck is as low as eu2-3. Ok for unsophisticated Dutch palates I suppose. ;)

Dirck III was even better!

If you want a real selection and know someone in hospitality who can get you in try and visit a Hanos warehouse, it will blow you away. 40,000-50,000sqm of fresh food from all over the world, much of it alive. Supplying food to restaurants and cafes is what the really do but their grog range is large.

Sorry for OT.

For those that have enjoyed the Maverick Twins Cabernet and blends over recent years, I can confirm that the current 2016 offering is in fact the a Cabernet Merlot Cabernet Franc blend, not a straight cabernet as advertised. If anyone preferred the blend over the straight cabernet, they may be interested in this deal. I have yet to taste the wine. I'll try and schedule this, along with the 2016 shiraz in the coming week.

Following on from 2016 cabernet comments DB, last week had two Fo offerings at my brothers.

Firstly, the 2015 Maverick Twins straight Cabernet. Just a very simple wine, unimpressive really as being under developed with a slight tartness thrown in there to smack you on the tonsils upon exit. Nah.
Lastly, something called See Saw Shiraz Mouvedre 2015 from Orange and surrounds. This was a beauty, full and rich, simply Moorish, beautifully integrated. No idea the value on this one but both came in a whites/red mixer pack.

I thought the CabSav blend, (2013?), was quite delicious, just lingered on the taste buds, one of those wines that you seem to want to keep tasting. One of the nicest wines tasted last year. Agree re preference to the straight 2015 CabSav DB :D

Has anyone tasted this new offering of the 2016 CS Blend OR the 2016 Twins Shiraz ?

Thoroughly enjoying the Maverick wines although the 2014 Maverick Ahrens Creek Shiraz was a little uninspiring & lacking depth to my palate but improved when the bottle at 40% capacity was left overnight, doubt if it is a buy again at the $$.

Are you sure you didn't get the bottles mixed up? :)

I've also had the See Saw recently, and found it to be okay, but nothing more, while I find 2015 Twins Cabernet is just gorgeous, and should only get better. I cracked another bottle just last weekend for the in-laws and they all fell instantly in love with it, preferring it to the '05 Coppermine Rd that was also on offer. But I guess at the end of the day we all have our own preferences. C'est la vie!

Just out of interest, did you decant the twins? I have found that they do need a good long decant to really open up.
