Vinomofo Wine Deals

Has anyone bought and able to comment on the Black Market Zinfandel (Churchview Estate)?

Thanks!

I've bought the 2013 and the 2014 and have thoroughly enjoyed them, the wine is complex engaging and alive, it's astonishing that the alcohol level 16.5%* doesn't really have any impact on the flavour profile certainly no alcohol "heat", the vineyard is apparently only 1 hectare so it's a pretty rare drop in terms of production, if it wasn't for the fact that I had only just bought the 2014 in November last year I'd be up for the 2015 (still sorely tempted though!)....

Thanks W&D. Yep - have heard good things about the previous vintages, but not overly familiar with the style. I'm fairly keen to try but need to balance against my overly excessive buying of late! I really hate having to commit to a dozen!

I know the dilemma Poochio, a dozen bottles of a wine that doesn't quite tick all the boxes is annoying but at least VM will accept them back with full refund. I'm not altogether familiar with the variety, I think I've only had the odd Italian Primitivo (same grape different name) and they have been much more earthy and savoury, the St Johns is intensely aromatic, rather 'bright' and fruit driven but certainly not a fruit-bomb. I've just had a dozen of something else delivered with two 1/2 dozens still to hit so am trying to show restraint for once!

I wasn't very impressed by the Cul Stor and sent mine back, not bad or faulty but would have felt cheated to have paid $40 for it...(others on the forum quite liked it, you can do a search within the site)

I tried the Lear
I am not a connoisseur, but found it very drinkable. Would not pay full price for it though. A mate had it at the same time, who knows his wine and he said it was very good.

What? Did VM have a wine worth drinking again?

And I missed it... oh well, you snooze, you loose.

Not being familiar with the producer, I wouldn't touch it. I think there is a lot of really average Bordeaux out there, especially on the cheaper end of the spectrum. If you've had similar and like it then certainly go for it. At that price point, I'd be buying Australian, but that's just my tastes.

I don't know if anyone noticed what one of the awards was that this (and some of the other French plonks) proudly display? Here it is "Ronan Sayburn, Decanter - Great Wines Under $15". $15 or eu15, they have the gall to serve it up at $50 when it hits our shores.
