So a tip and an interesting tidbit:

THE TIP (at least for Melbourne)

Once you get your "Your vino is on its way!" email (or before if you're super keen), go to nexday.com.au and you can start tracking it (enter the surname and order number fields). Not sure why VM don't link to them directly - perhaps different couriers for different locations.

THE TIDBIT

I ordered a Black Market wine. The courier site has the name of the wine I'm getting - this is a first for me, usually it still says Black Market on their site

Appreciate you all sharing your storage methods. Will look for a large storage fridge but will still have to look into finding a cooler and more stable storage solution for the remaining (under 10 years) wines. Any recommendations for brands of wine fridges? Don't want to spend a fortune!

I have a Kitchener 200 bottle since 2007 or 2008 and one of the Vintec 30 bottle from the recent Penfolds promotion.

They don't make my model anymore, but I've been very happy with the Kitchener, but they aren't cheap.

Yes most of the larger units are not cheap indeed. I will need at least a 80-140 bottle capacity unit. I find it interesting that they are the same price or even more expensive than an equivalent sized fridge/freezer! It would be interesting to see what temp a fridge is at the lowest temp setting.

They're usually more expensive because they need to limit vibration and control humidity which aren't issues (as much) in a fridge/freezer. Medium or long term storage in a fridge is really not ideal.

More expensive due to several factors. Main one is I think is numbers being sold. Secondly, high-end wine fridges don't use a compressor, but thermoelectric cooling. They also maintain humidity unlike a regular fridge.

Second point. Buy a fridge with larger capacity than you need. You WILL grow into it and regret a smaller one. Also, the advertised number of bottles is never acheived, unless all your bottles are standard Bordeaux ones.

Works in Canberra too, and shows my delivery (as expected) to be Glenlofty 2011 Shiraz. :D

Agreed on all counts, especially the number of bottles one can cram in. Hardly any of the better quality wines seem to be bottled in standard Bordeaux bottles nowadays.

Black Market GSM is the Vinrock Bayliss Road Black Label GSM 2013. No idea if its any good, think the previous vintage came up last year though if anyone bought it....

Any ideas on the McLaren shiraz 2012 secret deal? Down 60% from $160 to $64, 97 points by Halliday.

VM certainly missing a trick on this. Haselgrove website has it listed as $170. VM missing out on trumpeting a larger discount.

Hello - long time lurker, first time poster...

Google tells me that this one is the Haselgrove CRUTH Shiraz 2012.

Overpriced. You can get RWT any many other fantastic wines for less than that. But it probably is a pretty good wine, I personally don't think any wine is worth more than $150 but that is just my opinion :)
