At ideas on the Yarra Valley Chardonnay that went up this morning? Wishful thinking had me hoping for one of the Giant Steps Chardonnay like the Tarraford Vineyard which is single vineyard and has he 96 from Campbell, but RRP on website is $5 out.

What score did Mac Forbes Woori Yallock Chardonnay 2014 receive?

I can't speak for Rocket09, but I've bought 33 cases in the past 12 months (mostly 6-packs). The free shipping would have saved me only a couple of per cent on my spend, so I really don't care.

It was more a query about the amount being bought and what proportion of total purchases Vinomofo represented as I don't buy that much from any single source.

IMHO, saving a $1/bottle on high demand wines really isn't worth agonizing about.

True, but especially combined with price-matching the savings could be greater - unfortunately though when others have good wine cheap, Vinomofo generally won't have stock :(

One of our bottles of the Merlot was off...anyone know what VM do in that case?

Utilise their 100% Happiness Guarantee? Hopefully being a VIM helps? :)

I bought 1240 bottles last year - VM made up ~16% of the total.

I've never price matched anything against VM. How do you save money? Wouldn't the prices be the same?

Whoa - you obviously have more space and/or go through more wine more quickly than me :)

Vinomofo aren't always the cheapest - eg. [post=1667035]The Wanderer Upper Yarra Valley 2015 range is cheaper at Dynamic Wines[/post] - and can price-beat, besides possibly saving on delivery and using referral credit as well :)

2014 Mountain c and d are apparently on vim for $70..

I'm sure a VIM can provide the links if they can't be guessed, and a more special VIM offer a discounted delivery service as well :)

Another possibility is Hoddles 1er. Peach / honey complex matches well, but 13.2%.

It looks like VM may have their CM and JH confused with each other, so the 96 point CM may be a red herring.

Actually, this touches on something I've been wondering about: How often do VM get some of the information in these teasers wrong? I can't find anything that matches this chardonnay deal on price, alcohol and points. Either I'm missing something (which is definitely possible) or one of those things is wrong. Has anyone had experiences where VM have got it wrong on alcohol content or price before?

PS If it was the Hoddles (doubt it though) I'd buy multiple cases

About 50% of the time it is just plain wrong and deliberately misleading and deceptive conduct. The other 50% of the time it is hyperbole.

Probably right. I've only ordered from them once and the wine that arrived was not what I expected based on the info provided. I sent it straight back at their cost though so the only thing wasted on my part was time. I've just ordered 6 of this one but if I'm disappointed again it'll be on the next truck back (again at their cost)

Too right. I expect the wine retailer who offers a guarantee does so knowing that most people will be too polite to send anything back.
If the description doesn't match the product, I don't think there's any shame at all in asking for a refund.

I ordered the chardy from VM yesterday because I liked the description, and I find CM's tastes are pretty well aligned with mine.

Just a quick observation that I have been lambasted (when first visiting the forum) when confessing that I used VM's descriptions to base my purchases on. It has taken quite number of returns of wine to the 'Fo to convince me that their flights of fantasy when hyping up a wine are merely detours into the "creative writing" genre and bear little resemblance to the product in question, when they say "big and deep" think "medium and mid-weight (at best)" for example, or simply google the wine and rely on independent reviews etc....just my two pennies worth!

I'm not sure what's unclear here...

Coldstream Hills Rising Vineyard Chardonnay 2014
RRP: $50 - matches
Campbell Mattison have it 96 points - matches
Review in the Halliday Wine Companion 96 points - matches (it's the CM review)
Alcohol 12.5% - is 13% in Halliday Wine Companion (could be rounding)
Single Vineyard - matches

Seems like everything matches to me. Only doubt would be the "Boutique Producer" label, as I don't think Coldstream Hills is a boutique producer

Looks like I did indeed miss something! Thanks Anonymous. I hope you are right. I'd love six of those (though I wouldn't call CH boutique either - unless your yardstick is Penfolds :))

I was thrown because CM gave it a 95 rather than 96 on TWF and the winery has it at 13% alcohol. CM also said on TWF that the only 2014 Yarra chardonnays he awarded 96 points to (on either site) were: Sentio Lusatia Park.
Coldstream Hills Reserve
Helen & Joey Estate Alena.

Only one of those (CH) is a "five red star producer" according to the Halliday site and its rrp is $60, plus its not single vineyard.

Tipping it's Denton Viewhill for the chardonnay and today's pinot noir.
