If only every wine came in a Bordeaux bottle I would have a much more efficient wine fridge...(and far less ripped labels).Bordeaux!
Two things....97 is a winestate score and not a JH score. I started my appreciation of wines in the late 80's using a Winestate score of 4/5 at least and then sought out their recommendations. This served me well apart from a shocking sparkling burgundy from WA that still haunts me today.Anyone know what this 2016 SA shiraz might be? Single vineyard and 97 points / 5 stars @ Winestate didn't get me very far.
Shiraz 2016 – Black Market Deal #34904
Single-vineyard shiraz wonder here. The vineyard is dry-grown, so nature is left with the reins in hand. We should know by now that it knows what it’s doing,...www.vinomofo.com
I got so excited wand when I saw your hypothesis that I did some searching. Something didn't add up.BM deal Shiraz 2017 – Black Market Deal #35484 would appear to be this

Bit of a bummer it is under corkDeffo this wine, pray tell what didn't add up BF? (I'm usually pretty cough at guessing these deals)
Nothing wrong with cork for a six pack drunk in the next five years. I went off on a tangent and didn't see the 2017for your one. On my phone it's easier to get confused. Reviews look good enough for this $60 to $30.Bit of a bummer it is under cork

The medium body on this one threw me when I thought you were mentioning it as the tanunda shiraz. The literal red herring skewed me. Time for bed.Anyone know what this 2016 SA shiraz might be? Single vineyard and 97 points / 5 stars @ Winestate didn't get me very far.

I know what you mean Rug, I would hope that it would be Diam with a wine of this quality (and price), interested to hear back from anyone who orders it....Bit of a bummer it is under cork
I thought it looked pretty intriguing BF but I've done my dash/cash for a little while on recent purchases so I'm reining in my impulses on this one.Nothing wrong with cork for a six pack drunk in the next five years. If the cork is tainted, the effect on the wine can be immediate on bottling. In some cases musty/corky flavours are imparted into the wine within the first year or so. I've seen a barrel sample drawn the previous day and sealed with a cork show obvious TCA taint.Nothing wrong with cork for a six pack drunk in the next five years. qaz would be onto this one. At Boccaccios in Kew( who own Hoddle's Creek i believe) you can often buy their cleanskins and I believe they will often use their Chardonnay in the ten dollar bottle range. A few years ago I got into their cleanskin TopPaddock pinot and they were truly great for about three years, then fell off.Any ideas on this one? Could be Hoddles Creek?

Bad luck. Don't be too proud. If you don't like it send it back. It's good to try that and see that it's rather easy. Then you'll only have good experiences with VM and everyone will be happy...Well, I've had my first semi-underwhelming VM experience. I ordered Pinot Noir 2016 – Black Market Deal #35222.
It's Spy Valley Pinot Noir. It was $15 per bottle from VM. They said discounted from $35 from the retailer which may be true. But, it seems to be widely available for around $27. There's still a decent discount there, but it's a little disappointing when simply googling the bottle would give you a lower price from many retailers.
Anyway, onto the wine. I should note that I'm not super well versed in vino parlance, but I do know what I like. The pinot isn't bad. But it's main characteristic is its spice, which isn't really my thing. The description on VM did mention that, so I can't complain that it's there in large quantities! But there is a lack of much "else" going on. Probably won't send it back - worth $15 a bottle, even for me. But not quite the excitement of the recent Barossa reds I've received. If you're into spice, you might really enjoy this wine, too.
