Black Market Old-Vine Shiraz 2017 - Barossa, SA
BMD Barossa Shiraz
95 Points - Tyson Stelzer, Halliday Wine Companion

Nestled at the foot of the Barossa Ranges in the small, premium sub-region of Rowland Flat, you’ll find this pioneering Barossa winery founded in the 1940’s by one of Barossa’s first boutique winemakers. A cooler vintage by Barossa standards, for quality winemakers the longer ripening season meant more complexity, elegance and poise, and this Shiraz serves as a testament.

The intense ripe plum aromas and eye-catching purple colour are enough to take your breath away... and that’s before you’ve even tasted it! Its sophisticated palate is soft, silky and rich with notes of cherry, rhubarb, dark chocolate, toasty oak and a touch of black pepper. Its lively acidity provides energy and lift, while fine grained and delicately interwoven tannins hold everything in place. An absolute show-stopper built to impress – whether it be this year or ten from now!

Alcohol: 15%
Cellaring: 2038

Down from $320.00 /btl RRP to just $49.90 /btl in 6 packs

1847 | Chateau Yaldara 1847 Grand Pappy's Barossa Valley Shiraz

Winestar have the 2017 First Pick Shiraz for a similar discount. Chinese owned winery, hit hard with tariffs in China market. Suspect the RRP is based on the export market.

As an aside I had a call from Kilikanoon during the week turnout the telesales team has been outsourced to Vinomofo. They were offering Oracle Shiraz at $50 per bottle when it is on Vinomofo Black Market for $48...

I think you're spot on, RWB. Halliday gave it 95 points, and it's on the Chateau Yaldara website for $320.

Isn't this the standard price? Maybe it was $12.5

It's okay, Qwines rates it like 87-88pts. I didn't mind it, but there might be better around this price on VM currently.

The Amelia Park Shiraz?
I made a mistake with the 2019 vintage. Bought three cartons and send two back because I thought it was cough despite enjoying their 2014 immensely. Two years later and the 2019 was the best $10 wine I've ever tried. Bought three of the 2021 -not good drinking now but I'm betting that will change significantly in a couple of years.

This caught my attention.....Any Chardy lovers out there???

I think I finally found ya. Good luck with the punting and GED it into ya. I cannot stress highly enough. I was wrong with the spectacles but nailed the rest. Now to start reading from april till now. Happy drinking. All.
