Vinomofo Wine Deals

How often does the mad hatter pop up. I've just cracked my first bottle and now understand why I've read so much about it in this thread. One case was definitely not enough!

Looks like I run ahead of myself.
Strange that 2012 Hillside and Basket Press are missing while Block 6 is available.

The Kays' Basket Press has been out a while. The 2012 was available to members for $20 (cf $25) with free delivery & sold out quickly! The 2011 is available still as is the current 2013 vintage. The wine in question, as suggested by Jabba, looks like the Kangarilla Rd.

Hence the need for more, Its going to be hard to resist drinking this one!

I popped open a bottle lunchtime upon receiving this morning.
Just ordinary, light to mid body. Since consensus is positive, I hoped it gets better the next day.
FYI his brother "Hewitson Mother Vine" is currently available at $24.50 Secret deal.
I was going to get it but will wait and see.

I'm waiting on my Mother Vine to arrive.

Thanks I hope for the tip on kangarilla rd, a new release this month as the website says. i went searching thru my tasting notes knowing that a mate had brought this one once and i was very impressed. incredibly. so Boom, it's coming. interesting if it is since it really is getting out there before the big retail kicks in. who knows, it's a competitive wine gig out there.

Hi Frequent Flyers,

Please feel free to contact us directly to by phone on 1300 846 666 or email to check availability of wine you've enjoyed or if you have any questions.

While we can understand that guessing the identity of Secret, Black Market and Contraband Deals is half the fun, please be aware that these deals need to stay secret, or we risk not being able to offer them in future.

Our producers supply these wines to us in these formats so it won't affect sales of the product in other channels - and understanding that we're not the only wine retailer, we agree to do our best to keep that secret. Yes, having the identity revealed would be beneficial for sales in all cases, but we want what is best for our customers in the long term, and that's by maintaining our strong supplier relationships. It's not in anyone's interest to jeopardise a wine producer's livelihood by adversely affecting their other sales.

Please see the wording from our site Terms and Conditions below.

"One of the most awesome things about Vinomofo are our secret and black market deals - these are deals so epic, wines so awesome, that the only way we can get them is by agreeing to keep the identity of the wine and the producer secret. We ask you to keep that secret with us. Please don't post it anywhere, even if you are super-excited about it."
This way, we'll all get to keep enjoying them. If we blow it, we won't be able to get these deals anymore. So let's work together, and respect our agreement with the producers of these awesome wines.

So please enjoy guessing, enjoy buying, enjoy referring each other, but if you could respect the producer and their wish for their wine's identity stay private on a public forum, both the producers and we will be most appreciative.

Cheers!
Michelle , Customer Team Manager

Oh Oh .. Someone has been complaining about our powers of deduction..

I thunk we jus all bin told to be good….or better ..or sumpin……...

Maybe we need a private chat page.. maybe the fo could do that if not aff ???

Otoh..This thread has probably generated an awful lot of business for the 'fo… it's not all bad….

I guess members have been getting too good at guessing - this thread has been running since Aug 2013, after all :)

Still, nicely handled by VM, I'd say.

Catch 22
If we know the identity of the wines we buy more if too many people know the identity of the wines they become unavailable, oh what a dilemma !
Sleuthing work with like minded people is 1/2 the fun.
So Vinomofo are lurking on this page I wonder if they are also looking at the Redbigot, begs the question who else is lurking on these pages.

Guilty as charged Vinomofo - and good luck with your attempts to silence your fans - but aint gonna happen me tinks.

AFF is ALL about sharing - if it wasn't for the freely traded / shared advice on ALL matters well this would be a ghost town. Knowledge is power - the consumer of this century yields far greater power than in the past - that is the modern world where the internet thrives - but please keep those offers coming - it's not like we will run back to producers and tell them. ;)

If it wasn't for this thread I would never have become a vinomofo customer.

Welcome to the internet vinomofo, there's no secrets. Same applies to the 'secret hotel' booking sites.

There may be some negatives but one positive is that you can perhaps ring and ask if there is any xx_x available or coming up and the Fo may be happy to sell it to you.
Which is exactly what I've done previously, when I missed a deal. They had some left so I purchased.

Surely this page is getting them more sales?

I know they have shut down other forums where customers guessed their black market wines. Hope they don’t shut down this one!
I think it is hypocritical that VM created a whole business out of online/internet selling, but complains when their own customers use it as a tool to buy their products! Hey, you can’t have your cake and eat it too – or is it: you can’t have your wine and drink it too! (or sell it!)
If they don’t like it, they should change their business model!

Not sure how they could shut this thread.

Chicken or egg - OR - wine or bucks - which come first? I won't be parting with my hard earned unless I know what I am receiving in return - way too many deals from so many suppliers nowadays to require one to buy blind.

I think what VM are saying is - keep the guessing games going by all means, but once you actually receive the wine, please don't post it as "confirmed that x deal is this" as that breaches their T & C's.
I think that's probably fair enough - doesn't stop highly educated "guesses" though?

Firstly, I don't believe Vinomofo have any interest in shutting down this forum. It wouldn't be in their interest as the thread ranks very high in Google (number 5 when I last checked on https://www.google.com.au/search?q=vinofomo) and is clearly attracting new customers to their store.

And even if they did (which they don’t), there is absolutely no ways they can shut down AFF on the basis of a member publishing information about their product. So no need for any concern!

I had a very polite/helpful PM discussion with Vinomofo yesterday. They explained their position and I replied that we have no issue with them publishing their request for our members not to share info, but that AFF is all about sharing information so we won't be policing their request.

Like anywhere else on AFF, our members can post anything provided it doesn’t breach the laws of the Land and satisfies our Terms of Service. Sharing information about Vinomofo certainly passes the AFF test!!

I think their post is more about Vinomofo being seen to to the “right thing” by their suppliers - and to create more “social media chatter” which is good for their brand!

Best of luck enforcing that T & C.

The way I view it is this. The wineries aren't doing us a favour. They need to move their stock. VM is one avenue. Are they really going to take their bat and ball and go home to their own detriment? I doubt it. If they could move all their stock through other avenues at a higher price, they certainly would. Will the cut their nose of to spite their face? Unlikely I think. Might this hurt VM a bit, possibly. Welcome to the real world of business. Deal with it.

If VM goes under because of this, someone else will pop-up and take their place. There are no shortage of other avenues for cheaper wine.

Finally, if VM really want the wine to be a mystery then make it harder to guess and don't give so many details. This will probably hurt their sales though.

My 2 cents on the VM post :)
