I was on the road when I posted earlier....now at home, putting my query into this forums top rhs letter box. I got last Novembers 2014 offering of the same, and some diatribe from also. This is made from their mates's grapes and although it may be allright, I will pass due to uncertainty. Well done s, katy !

Damn good result here TD. Because of the lack of data and tasting notes from the AFFer's , I was hesitant on this one, but I am glad it was a knockout. I do wish I had got some, but you know what it's like - you can't have them all. I also find with the stocks I have that 12 is now a very big ask. I am fortunate that I can pass some of the case onto mates and if I am left with 6, then I am very happy. This happened with the Jack Shiraz, only after the initial tasting bottle. Crikey, even I have to be careful of making sure that I don't flog off a dud, and thankfully none so far. I am presently awaiting a six pack of shiraz, and a beaut West Oz pinot case that blew me away in February. Once again, I have at least 5 botts easily passed on. That's the fun part of all this, giving my friends and colleagues out there who firstly have little idea or experience with better wines and really have little idea and secondly, other folk who trust a judgement and are very happy to take a couple of wines at about the $12 and under range. I don't try to on sell any of the 6 packers at about $20 to anyone.

Your comments about the Fox Gordon and Haselgrove just show that we all inhabit different taste worlds but I do say that Good is Good and it's easy to taste Bad.

I looked at the Tassie Sparkling and thought why the hell not. Something for an occasion on a day that ends in a y, never bought sparkling before and looking at the consistency of scores here, I hit the buy. Tonight as I further investigate, the price is OK compared to others, not a screaming bargain but the Tassie show results gave this the Wine of the Show. And some reasonable judges down there. I have included the home page for your perusal, but the comments by the judges in this little wine show really give you an insight as to what they think. I found glancing thru the different classes and the judges comments to be quite interesting. Once again, this bubbly obviously promises plenty.

One of my first Fo purchases was the 14 Familia.
It was a 3.5/5 from me, with an opportunity for more development in 5 years. Only trouble is I had run out of room so I finished it all off young as a quaffer. Was tempted by the 15 but still no room. They make some great wines.

If it is, it would have to be some cellar-door-only special or something like that. The 2013 Moppity Estate Cab Sav is the right price and alc, but it's a Halliday 96-pointer and I can't imagine VM would fail to point that out. (Yes there are often some inaccuracies in their listings, but that doesn't seem like something they'd overlook.)

The Zontes Malbec was a pretty full on Blueberry flavour on the palate, i loved it but wouldnt describe it as a typical Malbec

Yep, you are right on the money, nothing like VM's offering of Erin Eyes, but a nice blueberry pie quaffer, light and tasty.

My fiance (now wife) and I had the Sidewood Shiraz 2013 at Maximilian’s Restaurant in SA last year, and I swear it was like drinking liquid flowers. Never before had I smelt or tasted such a perfumed red wine - it was very different but in a good way. The restaurant is a cracker - one of our favourite dining experiences ever.

Well managed to get 6 bottles of that Sidewoods through a Langtons auction, though the price saving wasn't huge compared to the usual VM's deals. Be just my luck VM will now have it on offer soon....

Meant to mention this is the first step in my search for The Violet,
Second steo will be tasting VM's Norfolk Rise Shiraz, VM's notes mention violet for this...we shall see..or not.

Halliday does score it 95, interesting that he chose not to give it a score in the article I linked. It was discussed here the first time VM offered it, but I don't remember if anyone bought and reported back on it.

Someone suggested that Tyson Stelzer may have done the score on Wine Companion, and other reviewers scores have been lower.

Could be almost anything - no published rating, from a region with a gazillion wineries. You'll probably need to call and ask what it is.

From the cooler southern part of Margaret River, could be another Chalice Bridge, they offers a Reserve Cabernet from there to VIM list yesterday.

Interesting they are using Ben Malouf scores for Moppity and Chalice Ridge and a few others, he is a wine merchant as well as a commentator/reviewer and sells some of the Chalice Bridge and Moppity wines.

Yes, you are right, I did have an attempt at a search, but it was like playing 'pin the tail on the donkey' (not meaning to allude to the wine being a donkey, mind you)
