Vinomofo Wine Deals

Did we resolve this https://vinomofo.com/wines/white-wine/mof_-secret-deal-gewurztraminer-2014-943a57c3 was Johanneshof?

Yep Spy Valley as stated. I really like it - great flavour not too sweet. Not really a food wine but works well as an aperatif or a bridge between main & dessert.

Anyone here tried the Madeleines 'Willowburn' Cabernet Sauvignon 2009? Also interested in hearing from anyone who has tried the Sugar Loaf Pinot?

I'm just going to have a crack and say Serafino Terremoto. I can't see anything of a 2013, but prior year were $120/bottle and they are 5 red star

I'm thinking that is a pretty fine deduction. There are reviews on TWF for 2010 and 2012 and on Wine Companion for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

93 points from Halliday which would put me off. He's been known to give some seriously average wines 93 points in the past. The lack of other info on the wine would also deter me.

I seem to remember another poster rating the Pudding Stone Shiraz from the same producer, same vintage, same price point recently on here though so I may be wrong.

I hate to say it but sometimes a 95JH doesn't guarantee a better wine.

Whining and Dining had this to say of the Madeleine ShirazViognier -

I can wax lyrical with the best of them.

The colour in the glass is dense, almost impenetrable, not quite squid-ink black but with a cherry-tinted penumbra and the legs of a young drag queen. The nose is quite profound: cherry-liqueur chocolate overlaid with satsuma, vibrant and toothsome hinting at the kaleidoscope of flavour yet to come. Getting excited? The palate surrenders to an onslaught of plush, velvety, boysenberry coulis and cherry balsamic reduction the whole melange borne aloft by the acidic tang of the Viognier with all its brûlée-torched grapefruit and apricot flounces marking the cessation of the performance... 8/10 and left wanting an encore (which I shall partake of tonight) .

With a little poetic licence to me from WandD, this is an extremely good, cheap wine.

I think I remember mentioning that the Shiraz itself was a stunner in 2009, but made little mention of the Cab. Once again, I'd love a sample but that may have to wait for one of those dinners. A black tie, black market, African smorgasbord featuring black noble and blackcurrants and that ooooold black magic. Take a punt on the cab !
