Yeah, been there, done that, But with an ever-diminishing number of bottles remaining in my drinking life I just want every one to be enjoyable, anything from the cellar that doesn't make the grade (not many) goes down the drain or into cooking if not too bad. I still taste a lot of different wines, have two weekly wine tasting groups with 6-7 wines tasted at each and a wide variety of styles, although one group of mostly oldies are mostly Shiraz fanatics, there is still a wide range of styles to explore for just that one grape. A good wine is never boring.Otoh…… …. life is an adventure and, imo, would be a tad boring if I just drank predictable stuff that I like.
Buying with my heart, I have some disappointments but also some triumphs… the joy of the chase...
A wine that hits the spot for my palate is especially enjoyable when it comes from an unexpected source.
