Vinomofo Wine Deals

Opened new Geoff Johnson Pirramimma last night - cracking wine! Exemplary McLaren Vale shiraz. it is more than a quaffer (as I thought originally) - it is a very well made wine. Very concentrated with massive dark fruit upfront quite spicy in a pleasant way, touch of vanilla and I think it is more poised and refined than their WarHorse shiraz that I also got last year.

I think this is the man on the label of the Pirra i bought in a 6er a fortnight ago. The year, dunno, but it sounds like a cracker anyway.
But we know years differ. We also know they go pretty fast too.

I'm always up for one of Pirramimma's big fat reds @GoingGrey and have a sixer of the Geoff Johnston sitting in my cart as we speak but not sure how you are gettting a $15 buy-in price pre-discounts?
WandD...two years ago now. How come you got the Johnston with a t and olympicwiz got the Johnson with no t.
One of these is a chinese copy like my $19.95 bottle of Pemfolds Grange.

Starting to sound like the Boston "T" party there BF! Pirramimma never truly seems to disappoint, slurpable dark luscious fruit lapping at my shores, I remember having to scour Grays to get my Pirramimma fix years ago but now the 'Fo have started flogging it I'm well stocked, there are definitely gradings within their portfolio but as some sage once remarked "good is good", but apparently "greed is good" and I'm greedy for more of their offerings, by the by was your Pemfolds a Temu purchase perchance?

Patritti for me down to a tee.
Under a granny smith for 6 is great buying. Their sparking shiraz was on Grays a few years back for about $6 a bot, and it was a great, not sickly fizz back to the Andrew Rumball days of the late ninetees before that changed. Nav zdrowie, sto lat !

Oops it was Peter Rumball.
I was thinking Andrew Garrett.

Memories.....

Yeah, I'm working up to a Patritti 2021 Shiraz tasting, I have Merchant (from Skye), BSV and Amico from VM, Lot 3 and JPB from cellars.com.au. I've only tried the Merchant and it's decent value at the $11 or so I paid.

Andy Graham dec4,2023 mentions jpb..interesting review leading me to think the fo bsv will be more interesting, same year, same vineyard obviously, ten bucks extra a bottle. Definately a discussion point

Thanks for the tip Beefarmer. Anyone got any recommendations on the current range of VM pinot noir?
The sixer at 139 I reckon offers variety, but I have some from a couple of months ago mix 6 pack. You will always get one very average one in the 6er remember

Thanks for that. Yeah, that's been my experience with some of the VM variety packs....there is always one or two quite average bottles lurking in the mix.

What are people’s thoughts on the Clarendon Hills Kangarilla Grenache 2012? Has anyone tried this?

Yeah, saw that review, JPB is a big, oaky style, right down my alley. Been waiting for the 2021 after trying the 2020 earlier this year. BSV and Amico are new lines I've never seen before and surprise, surprise they pop up on Vinomofo.

I was tempted by the Taltarni Vineyards Estate pinot, but I could not find a review and Taltarni pinot is an unknown quantity for me, so I ended up grabbing another six-pack of the Ulysses Yarra Valley C/S, which is a mighty fine drop at a tad over $20/bottle.

I loved it and bought a second case. It's got some real body to it. In fact all the Clarendon Hills offerings on VM lately have hit the spot for me personally 👍
Been on the sidelines with it for a while, but based on that and a discount code I boomed on it ;)
And a Credaro Chardy which wasn't dirt cheap, but they make a solid Chardonnay for the price.

It’s a big wine. Very dry too. It’s very different from a young and approachable pop and pour grenache. It needs a lot of air.

I’ve seen this in aged grenache before.
