Vinomofo Wine Deals

Welcome Mrs Dry!
Fair quip. I do have at least 5 other dealers that supply me with the way too much wine that we'll never get through. I'm not trying to boost sales (I doubt VM needs it), but I did notice some very negative comments about a business I've found very good to deal with, & which does regularly have great wines.

So, give us an idea of how many cases, be them 6 or 12, that you have bought and with the best return policy going, how many you have returned. I did ask this question many years ago and got this, 98 and 6.
Enough said.
In the last year I have slowed substantially, I reckon 15 and zero.
Can't complain at all.
And I will always be drinking my favourite Fo wine next.

My bad, the recent mention is 4 pages back, I guess an hour spent didn't get back that far.
Muchas graçias for the warm welcome to this forum, redbigot. Yes, seems I unwisely used the shorthand "few" when in fact I flipped back through quite a few more than 3. Enough to see not just one but multiple mentions of VM, most of them asking other members what a particular BM Deal is, which is why I thought it may be worth mentioning the phoning up option, other posts mentioning a wine they've bought +/- an opinion on a wine. But also several very negative comments including suggestions that good wines can no longer be gotten from VM. My point was that this idea is not accurate.

Thanks beefarmer. I'm about to sign off because gotta go to work, but when I get time I can count how many cases, going back a few years. It's a lot, because I've also supplied wine for 2 of our kid's weddings. I'd say I've sent back only 5 or 6 cases, partly because I try to suss most wines reasonably b4 I buy any I've not had previously (& partly because my father in law seems to have liked several that I might otherwise have returned!)

Yeah, I'm not known for subtlety,
Most newbies do more thorough research before telling us stuff that's already well documented.
And yes, you aren't the only one who has missed the ways to identify the BM deals.
In fact it's not necessarily a great idea to publicise them in case the facility is blocked, as it has been previously.
VM has been through a bit of a low patch, with the ongoing glut and the availability of better vintages I think they are getting into a sweet spot again, but , as you are aware, due diligence is still required, I prefer not to adopt the "risk it and return it" strategy.

Hi redB. Yes, fair enough your point about telling people stuff they already know. I agree with you about not publicizing some options because this probably guarantees said option disappearing : without wanting to be too cryptic, the option I mentioned does work, I have used it to good effect, but more often I use a quicker approach. However the slower part of my process, is time spent sussing out any wine with which I'm not familiar, before buying. Which I don't regret. Because although VM returns policy is (ridiculously?) generous, I think the less returns the better, including the 'grog miles' involved.

Hi again Beef. That was a terrifying task you set me! I went back 3 years. Please keep in mind there were 2 X 30th birthdays, 2 X 60ths (all huge), & also 2 weddings with 160 guests at each - during this time. Plus my Uncle Dave stayed here for a few nights each wedding. Then there's my father in law. And our 48 hr Christmases here routinely have extended family/sundries totalling about 25 to 30. Plus annual winter solstice, paddock Big Bonfire with about 50 - 60 peeps. I've probably forgotten some events. Yeah, so 55 cases of 6, 86 cases of 12. Returns look like 4 cases : not a lot. I ignored a couple of other suppliers (eg Dan's for many cases of bubbles, & another who provided the Mandala blanc de blanc bubbles for wedding #1, & more, but anyway..). To be fair, there remains a very well stocked cellar that will take a decade to get through. At 3 years back, I stopped scanning my too many "Boom, the...!" emails, & seriously pondered the likelihood that my wife & cardiologist both may have been conveying a valid message....
