Vinomofo Wine Deals

Any ideas on this?
Also aged wine offerings on tomorrow apparently FYI
Looks like it's

Geoff Merrill Henley Shiraz

Similar description as 2007 version.

Aged & rare sale is Here

I was hoping to see some aged Riesling or Semillon or even fortified & stickies 🤤😋
But it's Shiraz & Cab Sav show as you'd expect

For years I was Shiraz over everything else but nowadays I find heavily oaked red wines unappealing & there's day after consequences 🧟‍♂️

Look like Craggy Range, can anyone confirm? I'll bite

Most of it is the same old. Gives you an idea of how much stock VM is sitting on though. Crazy.

If I was a member of any of these winemakers I'd be unhappy.
Lots of wineries are sitting on lots of stock. VM is one moderately sized pipe out of the lake.

I suspect a lot of what VM offers is on consignment, ie they don't buy it, they only pay for what they sell.

Quite confident it's the Sophia based on checking several of the scores.

Very likely. They sent me an email about it a few days ago.

Where I'm coming from is you sometimes the winemaker is selling these exact same back vintages at crazy high RRP's. And then VM is flogging them for 1/4 of the price. Does the winemaker offer them to their members for the discounted price? Likely not.

I don't care. Have no skin in the game since I'm not a member of any wineries. The whole situation is curious though.

Yeah, it's actually a good way to destroy your winery's reputation. I will never buy at anywhere normal retail price any wine from a winery that sells on Vinomofo. They have to list the wines on their sites at full RRP to justify the VM claims.
I do buy a bit directly from a few smaller/medium wineries, ones that have non-onerous buying requirements and a decent discount for member buys and wines that aren't normally discounted if they are even at retail.

Bramley Wood is a long defunct label. The actual wine was made by Voyager Estate and I believe the label was created for the US market.

If you Google the name you'll find next to nothing which is interesting. It must have been short lived. Albeit there are also 2007 and 2008 vintages of the same wine, both of which were also on Vinomofo recently.

I have some of the 2007. It's ok, but don't think you are getting a 15 year old Voyager Estate cabernet. It's a rung or two beneath the flagship Voyager Estate wines. Like many older wines that Vinomofo sell, I'd never pick it as being this old. Seems like it will last another 20 years. It opened awkward on day 1 but was much better on day 2.

Definitely worth a punt for $30. Would not pay more.

Great scoop, ta @AndrewCowley
That's enough fodder for me to take a punt
