Pets, uniforms, wi-fi or even a new route shouldn't be the subject of a long-advertised event.

Should be something involving aircraft, and maybe a fly-by, a la the QF/EK dual flight up Sydney Harbour on the start of their partnership. Joining an alliance (but hard to sneak a "Star Alliance" (or whatever) plane in)? New aircraft? My tip : a 'formation' in the air.

C'mon Virgin - you've got my business for the time being# - give me something to keep me.

# until a certain shambles is fixed

Hmmm . OK; that idea didn't last long :) . Might be a swoop-in and park at the hanger?
Not sure if Bain are willing spend the CapEx to charter a jet from one of the Star carriers for the sake of showing off (also it's cheaper to announce Alliance membership at a standard presser in a room and/or in a press release),

Also Star liveries are not 'unique' according to the VA announcement.

Much more likely that Virgin, seizing the opportunity caused by the exit of S7 from Oneworld, will announce new long-haul routes to Vladivostok, Novosibirsk and Yakutsk.
Da! Da! Da!

Looked like it had taxied to the international terminal instead of the hangar and it was supposed to head off to NAN:
Post in thread 'Virgin rules out returning the remaining parked 777s into service.' Virgin rules out returning the remaining parked 777s into service.
Yep, definitely, nothing to do with the 777's, they are currently up for sale and are fuel-hungry.
Guessing a new uniform, new livery, new bus class seats (which some of us have experienced) What else is insta worthy?
No doubt WiFi internet is returning, but that's not hangar event stuff (although it could be rolled into the hangar event as a small extra annoucement)

That they actually have reinstated buisness to flights Perth-Darwin and Perth-Adelaide. All economy at the moment. and economy x is only the 2 rows of escape seats. Not much fpr a platinum living in Perth.

It says "new era", so it has to be something "new", IMO the only really "new things" they absolutely need are; new planes and new seats.

On the former, we know they have the MAX on order, so unless they are going to cancel them and present something else, then they need to start getting the Australian public convinced that we won't be turned into crash test dummies by flying on them (particularly important now that Qantas has gone the Airbus narrow body route, and Virgin will go it alone with MAXes domestically).

On the latter, some of their business class seats are so past their use by dates, they feel like sitting on 10 year old worn out trampolines. So some new seating and a retrofit for existing aircraft is definitely required, most likely the MiQ for J, which many of us have already tried, and seems the poster child for new aircraft orders elsewhere.

So, my guess... a "hanger event" tell us how "safe" the MAXes are, plus show off some new seats for a retrofit program?
If Virgin are bringing in Max's, I'm gone!

You may like to read the post by AviatonInsight on Ask the Pilot thread.
Exactly, read & research the Max, that thread post was very informative.
Max such a non issue now. I'll feel better on a new plane than some of those 30+ yo fokker100 planes, not a fan of them.

With all these VA announcement ideas posted above, I got no idea whatsoever. like predicting price sensitive ann on stock market, I've learnt to just wait, but do enjoy the wide ranging ideas!!

AviatorInsight's experience of his Sim sessions was really enlightening. I would get on a Boeing Max now, given that the changes have been made and the proper training has been provided to pilots.

Hoping for:

- Star Alliance
- Max-8’s being ditched
- SQ points transfers being reinstated (Velocity->KrisFlyer)
- Widebodies returning (international medium/long haul)
- More domestic lounges
- Improved catering in domestic lounges

Probably will get:

- New uniforms (yawn)
- New livery (yawn)
- New seating config options for domestic narrow bodies new/future
- New $ bolt on packages for everything as per their market research groups
- Half naked women being paraded around to celebrate something
