Or are you Stephanie Tully?!
One can neither confirm nor deny such a statement :P

but the staff always get lost when I show them the mobile wallet boarding pass
WOW! One'd assume that the staff know what to & where to look at, eh?

I have noticed that too with some relatively new QF staff (haven't flown VA in a few months now) .. they sort of run their fingers over the screen to see which seat & flight number you are on ...

I thought one was called "Velocity" and the other "Virgin Australia"?
There's actually three apps:
  • Velocity - Managing your VFF account, viewing deals, partnerships etc.
  • Virgin Australia - For displaying your boarding pass and booking / managing travel
  • Virgin Australia [Entertain] - For inflight entertainment if browser IFE isn't supported. Most aircraft don't support this app anymore but when opening the app in an unsupported aircraft it suggests keeping the app in case you get a plane that still uses the legacy IFE

Can you use your FF card at the boarding gate instead of a boarding pass on Virgin? Just wondering.

I think not. I've noticed that whereas Qantas can just swipe your card on check-in and hey presto, it seems thar Virgin can't do the same. Happy to be corrected though .... perhaps the staff at HBA are just technophobic! 😌

I seem to recall Bain specifically identified this (consolidate Virgin and Velocity into one mobile app) as a synergy they saw value in, and intended to pursue as a priority.

I think because they're used to seeing a Virgin app pass so it throws them for six when there's a non-Virgin app pass that apparently you can use to get onto the plane.
