Virgin Australia applied for ADL/OOL-PER-DPS. Failed due International Terminal Requirement

Yes they are International. However, the CNS-MEL tag flight, I wonder if the revenue will fall under Jetstar Domestic or International.

I doubt these extra tag flights will be in addition to the current domestic flights. Watch them pull those back as these new ‘International’ tag flights take off, that people will only be using to fly Domestic.

No doubt. And yeah it will be just like QR988/989, except at least JQ will be transporting sustainable loads of pax for those carbon emissions.
 
Which begs the question, are these A321 ‘D’ flights going to be operated by Thai or other crews? I think using Thai crews for say Cairns to Melbourne is abusing the laws. I would hazard a guess and say 5% or 0% will be using the flight for CNS-MEL-DPS puropses. CNS-MEL is purely a domestic flight here, and the executives know it. Nothing but a ploy to gain an extra MEL-DPS

I have to say the same with VA's application for xx-DPS-PER. They really only applied as a backdoor way to get onto PER-DPS, and unsuccessfully tried to get the rules changed when Australia's IASC (on behalf of Indonesian authorities) stated that the domestic legs are required to be operated from the international terminals.

On another note, Batik Air Indonesia might breath some sigh of relief at being the only 'Value Carrier' (and only airline overall) providing Recliner J and (third party) lounge access on the PER-DPS route.
Had VA stuck to the rules of the application, I would've tipped that VA would've likely taken some of Batik's J loads on the PER-DPS route (and forgo Batik's third party J lounge access) even when VA provides no J lounge access at all for their own short-haul international services.

Indeed VA could have probably operated ADL-PER-DPS reasonably successfully from a terminal location perspective both are colocated with the international terminal. This would have saved checkin and ground arrangements.

Well this compelled me to check. Two things to note:

-Beyond members get First class lounge access on SQ out of SIN.
-Apparently platinum members flying South African Airways have access to SQ lounges when flying SQ. Glad to see VA has enough money and patience to double check things before launching them live.
