Very nice. Noticed the similarities to the MEL Lounge as well - but is it scaled down or up? Looks much bigger to me!

Also great that there's still the possibility of premium entry - it's a shame that the MEL lounge is unlikely to offer the same given its awkward positioning. At least there's a view of the tarmac I guess.

I'm pretty sure, and its the immediate feeling I got upon wandering around that it's considerably smaller than MEL, but fantastic lounge, the same great service and the same fantastic selection of beers behind the bar.

I read somewhere the MEL lounge capacity is 300 while the BNE one is 200. So MEL should be 50% bigger.

Looks good, but has the same problem that the QP has in BNE... No views of the planes from inside the lounge.

But the QF J Lounge has a great view of the Dash8 gates.

I note that any reference to a Gold Coast lounge opening by the end of the year has dropped off today's media release. Mackay is still being explicitly mentioned:

This may just be an oversight or it could mean a delay or change of plans. Perhaps someone from VA can clarify.

Nope.. they haven't forgotten it... I don't expect it will be done by end of this year though.

I'm just as interested in knowing when they are going get moving with the CNS Lounge.

Change of plans meant I made opening day. Wow, what a great difference. Big fan of the comfy red leather chairs in the back corner (tucked away so it did stay quiet), and the el Diablo shiraz not a bad drop at alll. Well done VA.

This point has been made before but it appears as if though they would be able to easily expand out over the massive rotunda if greater capacity was needed in the future.

Probably security issues involved but the rotunda area would make an awesome balcony/ beer garden type area. I love a bit of an outdoor area at an airport and the BNE climate lends itself to it pretty nicely.
