Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

If someone said the Qantas First lounge is "bland" I would find it annoying because the person obviously does not understand the package as a whole. BTW the Qantas first lounge is probably my favorite lounge in the world the standard of design is just....*drools*.

Are you joining us on our First Lounge run this Saturday?

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

No, sadly, I am stuck studying :( - And I can only get in when I am a guest lol

pretty much all my fliying involves OOL. I am hanging around his location more than anywhere else. Looks like a few of our most frequent flying members are based here too.

Only the more upmarket ones :D

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

Sorry, but I don't understand how a comparison can be made between a cafeteria and the new lounge, to me that just seams like ignorance. I design part time and what is on offer in terms of hard product in the new lounges is pretty cutting edge stuff and appreciate smart design. It's not ignorance, a corporate I worked or had a cafeteria very similar indeed. Maybe you should get around a bit more and see just how swish some corporates make their offices.

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

By the way this is the second time I've received a personal attack by you for expressing an opinion you do not especially like. I don't mind if you disagree with me but it would be appreciated if you could be a little more objective.

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

Very nice, very functional, and the staff exceptional. I must admit, it is a huge change from the old lounge. (I did actually like the old one, it felt very homely and warm).
Just a question for Noob, do you work for Virgin? Your posts in this thread have a very biased view to all things Virgin. (Obviously very passionate about the product, but WOW!!!!). If you dont work for them, maybe you are trying to impress, you are certainly very keen ;)

I am really sorry, I honestly didn't mean it to come across as an attack towards you personally - I need to be more careful in how I convey what I am thinking in writing - I am new to forum to forum environments.

I more meant how did you come to that conclusion? But I did it bluntly which was not called for. You have since explained this in detail, despite what would have seamed to be blatant rudeness on my behalf, thank you.

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

No harm done. I've just seen a lot of places with that same minimalist flavour. While I agree a lot of people will like it, for me it's missing the overstuffed armchairs, cushions and lamps which I would ideally call a haven. As I said I am quite conservative and tend towards traditional and eclectic styles in interior design.

That's a good point! Somewhere that you can almost fall asleep when you have a big gap between connecting flights or delays would be really nice...

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

I thought they did? On the front desk of the SYD lounge they have a large bowl of mints.

There wasn't any there on Wed afternoon

Re: The DJ BNE Lounge is now open!

I visited the lounge on the way back home last night, using a much appreciated single entry pass. The service was fantastic, but my personal design preference would be for something a little less white. My memories of the old lounge were a little hazy as it had been over a year since I had been there, but I had nostalgic yearnings for what I remembered as feelings of warmth and comfort. Perhaps this isn't as much commentary on the lounge though, as a mismatch between my preference and current trendy designs, as this isn't the first place I have experienced this.

Overall however, another day of professional service flying Virgin for business, on two aircraft with 100% load factors.

I saw a few doing just that Wednesday - iPhones plugged in, feet up and snoozing in the chairs in the quiet zone. So wanted to kick my shoes off, tuck them up under and curl up in the comfy red chairs also, but attire for the day (dress) did not suit that.

Maybe ask for a blanket (are they available) or use your coat?

Don't know about blankets, but would certainly make the space more homely - and me less concerned about being ladylike/revealing.

I’m sure Virgin Australia would prefer to rebook you on an earlier flight, and to not have any delays :p

True, personal pages would go up, and OTP down. Perhaps you could book a wake up call with lounge angels on the way in? ;)
