Re: Virgin Australia Brisbane Lounge to open – Invitation to AFF Velocity members to

I was familiar with old lounge so thought to approach from far right, round the corner.

I'm pretty sure the toilets are the same as the old lounge. At least they look the same inside.....just with a different access route (in fact they should have kept the old access and allowed more space internally in the lounge)!

Re: Virgin Australia Brisbane Lounge to open – Invitation to AFF Velocity members to

So I thought I'd hunt down some of the nice Shiraz from the lounge to drink at home.

Can someone confirm this is the right stuff?

Del Diablo Loco

Because if it is, I'm going to be drinking more of it on the next visit. $50/bottle!!! I'm assuming they get it cheaper than that, buying in bulk, and it is a very nice drop, but I'm surprised that they are serving such an expensive bottle in a help yourself setting.

Agree with others.. "WHERE'S THE CHEESE" had my mouth watering for a toasted sanger, but no cheese.. Please please please Virgin AUstralia get us some cheese. We know you have the power!!!!

Cheese! - In the little serving area full of meats and other foods to put on your sandwich, there was no cheese. I asked one of the staff to fetch me some, but she said it wasn't the norm to have it out. More than one type would be nice, even if it was just the generic cheese.... What toasted sandwich doesn't have cheese!
NO CHEESE!! That's a cause for national shame.

Someone dig out Peter Russell-Clarke and the emergency wheel of cheese to rectify this situation immediately.

Thanks for everyone's feedback and comments. Our team is definitely taking it on board.

For those interested, today we've released a new video from our 'introducing Virgin Australia' series in our YouTube channel. Architect Tim Greer talks about designing the new lounge experience, so you'll be able to gain an insight of the new design.

Indeed that is a very nice Shiraz.

http://www.fostersgroup.com/brands/del-diablo-loco.aspx

"In a world where elegance and finesse in cool climate wines are taking over the winemaking vernacular, Del Diablo Loco has thumbed its nose at these styles, instead, aiming to make a big, robust, old-school Shiraz with plenty of fruit, plenty of new oak and the body to match.

The Angel of the Abyss is a straight McLaren Vale Shiraz that is big, bold and voluptuous, with curves and muscle in all the right places."

That's interesting. DJ are certainly being hard to scrutinize here........$50 bottles of wine, in an environment where a quaint quaffing wine would seem to suffice, but a food selection which has been best described as ordinary. Surely we haven't experienced the full DJ lounge experience yet as 2+2 is not equaling 4 at the moment.

Can't wait for future announcements!

Also, we would like to extend the invitation to experience the new Virgin Australia Lounges to Qantas Platinum, Gold and Chairman's Lounge members (this may include one guest also).
This invitation is also available for use in our Melbourne and Sydney Lounges, valid through to 31 August 2011 and does not require same day Virgin Australia boarding pass.

Brilliant. Sorry if it's already been covered, but do we need to PM for this as well, or just show our Platinum cards at the entrance? I'd love to try the MEL lounge this Friday (had planned to try it using PP actually, but that recently ended, so this works well :)).

Cheers,
- Febs

Thanks for the confirmation. Do you do takeaways :) ?

Will have to make sure I visit the lounge again before the end of the quarter.

Much to my disappointment, I have just been rejected from the Virgin Australia lounge in Melbourne because I didn't have a boarding pass for a DJ flight. The youngish gentleman at the desk about 1.15pm accepted my QF Platinum card but said I needed to be flying with DJ that day. Very sad. So it was back to the QF J lounge and the sloppy creamy chicken dish.

If I've missed something let me know. If not, please, DJ, don't go the way of QF and have your staft not knowing the rules and guidelines and procedures etc. etc.

I believe the offer to try the DJ lounge was only valid til the end of July regardless of whether you flew with them or not.

Re: Virgin Australia Brisbane Lounge to open – Invitation to AFF Velocity members to

Post 1 of this thread states end of August for WP/ SG and should not require DJ boarding pass

For the Brisbane lounge. Not Melbourne.

This thread is all about the Brisbane Lounge, not Melbourne. :p

Indeed you are correct there Princess Fiona... It was an earlier invite I was thinking of..

Re: Virgin Australia Brisbane Lounge to open – Invitation to AFF Velocity members to

Actually the rep clearly stated in post 1 it was also valid for Melbourne and Sydney, hence why I'm

Ahh your right, I'm sorry.

Hrmmm. Very strange indeed. Some sort of miscommunication.

A public apology for Danger.
You were incorrectly turned away, at the error of our staff.
The entire Lounge team have been reminded about the promotion ending 31st August.

If you PM me your Velocity number we will add a couple of Lounge Passes to your account, so you can still trial our Lounge at a later date.

Thank you, Virgin Australia. Really, a simple acknowledegment like this that there was an error made goes a long way in my mind. To me, this is an example of the excellent customer service a number of members have stated DJ promotes. You'll have a PM shortly.
