MEL-PER Dinner service

The Lasagne was delicious
I also got a souvenir cruet set from the crew, wrapped by them for me to take home

The lasagne might be the highlight of that meal. What was that soup and dessert?

If I had to make a silly guess at the soup, I'd say gazpacho, but no airline in the world is that silly or brave. It just looks like some sort of tomato soup but what's with the topping. And if it is tomato soup, well, unless you like tomato soup or tomato juice.......

The dessert looks like your run of the mill cake. Seems to have taken place of the roulade that people have enjoyed on the coast-to-coast routes previously, unless it is the roulade that is the mainstay only in the other direction.

Soup is minestrone. There was no topping just thick soup. Not seen a roulade on any recent flights.
I normally have the cheese but I was a bit full.

I had to google what the heck was a "cruet set". You mean the salt & pepper shakers?

Ha! Me too :)

Next we'll be talking about fondue nights and coughtail parties in Long Haul Business..................hang on, not a bad idea if I do say so myself........

Donuts, we need donuts!

Last flight I took a small box of donuts on the flight, went to sleep after take off and missed breakfast but the donuts hit the spot... even if I had to share them (but didn't want to)

Flew QF Y OOL-SYD on a 717 last week. Not only is the hard product by far and away the superior we received 6 arancini balls as the "refreshment" - tasted miles better than VA's offering in J.

Flew Air North to Toowoomba last week, had two beef lasagnas and several pinots. In economy. $0. Delicious. VA have really dropped the ball. Now let's get back to VA J meals.

Last time I did HBA > SYD in business I got a full meal service.

Ok, thanks. I'm on a 4:30pm service so I'll have had lunch and will eat something in the lounge in SYD, but hoping for something more substantial than a couple of finger sandwiches. Did you get a voucher or anything to use in the terminal in lieu of there being no lounge in HBA?

haha....lol....flown out of HBA more times than I could possibility count over the years and many of those times in J. Never had a voucher offered.

I flew QF Y BNE-DRW return, got a hot breakfast & lunch, probably as good as any VA J meals I have had.....VA really do need to lift their game!

Since when do QF do hot breakfasts on BNE/DRW (or whichever direction) in Y? I would have thought the standard continental box was the go.

A QF Y hot boxed meal compared to a VA J meal... come on, that's a massive call...

Well they served out either a continental or hot breakfast last week.....and yes the hot component tasted better then then following J VA breakfasts I have been served up

And miles in front of the VA Y muffin I have received in the past. I haven't flown with QF for a number of years and was pleasantly surprised......

Gnocci with lamb.

That does actually look delicious!

Hi.

thanks,

I believe that short-haul flights departing after 7.30pm receive "supper" service. So I would be expecting a snack on that flight.

Y not J but had a change to usual service today and hope it's not the new way of service.

Usual practice has been snack and drink together. This morning it was the muffin shortly after cruising but it took until after Canberra (from SYD) before they started the drinks service.

Worth noting as those morning muffins can be a bit dry!!
