Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

G'day new to this website and love all of its resources, hope that I can contribute to the discussion at some point.

What are common 'Afternoon Snacks' on VA? I'm flying VA231 in a few weeks time (depart MEL at 1535 and arrive ADL at 1550) and wondering what type of meal I should expect to get. Fingers crossed it is not some of those 'Vietnamese Tacos' recently discussed.
Also, does anyone have any pictures of the current 'Pantry' menu. The one on the VA website says that it is from Summer 2015, and I was wondering if there has been any updates to it since.

Cheers.

Which are the "longer" flights where you get a breakfast/lunch/dinner service in J throughout the day rather than just a snack service?

I'm specifically wondering about these:

SYD 10:05 – AYQ 13:15
AYQ 13:50 – SYD 17:10

I did both these flights not too long ago and they were snack flights.

What happened to the 'proper' desserts? All I see now is Anzac biscuits.

I seem to see a cycling between Anzac biscuits, chocolate covered macadamias, and cake. Or a combination of those.

Except the long flights, which have whatever proper dessert loaded for them.

A very tasty chickpea and chorizo soup and chocolate coated almonds. The cheese and crackers were a hit. No preflight drink, is that normal? I usually fly QF.

I've been wondering about this myself - thinking about booking SYD-CNS in J. It's a 14:10 departure.

With a flight time of over 3 hours (equivalent to SYD-AKL, in fact), I'd be hoping for something more than a snack!

IME all SYD-CNS flights are a main meal. You should get a lunch served on that flight.

Brunch on the 11am SYD to BNE flight today - breakfast burrito. May not look appetising but actually thought it was good.

No sparkling wine, was told that it had been trialled previously and may be coming back? Had an absolutely awesome CSM, Kelly-Anne, who made me a great sangria instead!

VA790 CNS - BNE 13/10/16 depart 19:15pm

Was within "dinner meal time"
Offered thai pumpkin soup with prawns. Slightly disappointing (soup for dinner), however great flavour, a bit watery. Not all that filling. Asked for a sandwich - was also given cold option - watercress salad with chicken.

VA544 OOL-SYD 1905 11th Oct.

Chicken with a creamed corn base. Ample serving and quite tasty. The lamington was a bit ordinary. Wasn't expecting a meal because of the timing. I was changed to this flight after VA540 @ 1805 was cancelled. Perhaps they allowed for that. The other option was some sort of salad. The service was excellent as well. I was however disappointed with the Peroni beer. Out of the can it tasted very metallic and I couldn't finish it.

Snack BNE SYD 20 Oct 10.00am

We both went for the scrambled egg focaccia. Other option was a fruit plate. Not bad taste wise but it was quite difficult to cut as the tray table is a bit flimsy..

Dinner(?) service 25 Oct SYD BNE 2100 Departure. Was expecting just a cheese plate or similar but was surprised when offered either a soup, or a dip with pita bread. As we'd just come of an EY flight ex AUH, we were a tad peckish ( had some soup in the lounge). Went the soup option, Spicy Tomato with Chicken. Was delicious, I'll try and replicate at home :-)
