Yes makes sense; your insight is prescient.They haven't changed menus, it's more likely different meal cycles
Different cycles will reflect from different ports of departure.
I.e
MEL C1
SYD C2
BNE C3
if a flight is double catered from whatever port then the meals will reflect from the first catered port.
You could have a flight double catered ex SYD to do a MEL return so the flight from MEL-SYD will have SYD C2 instead of MEL C1
The inbound flight was from PER, so if the flight was loaded in BNE, I haven't had that meal previously ex BNE.
