Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

First post to this thread!

Flew PER - MEL and by the time I was served there was only vego options left. Took the potato stack which was pretty tasty. One of the first times I haven't been able to finish an airplane meal

I think they started in row 2, I wasn't paying much attention
Potato stack! That’s new!!??

May have been some Plats or Beyond members in row 2
Apparently sometimes the crew like to ‘mix up it up’ and swap order-taking around. Which has been ok, so far. But it’s annoying when I could potentially miss out on the meat choice given i have a low-carb diet. (Either that or there are 7 beyond members on some of my flights!)

My flight the other day was 2ac then 1ac, 1df 2df. I was in 1a. I'm assuming it was status related as she made a point of greeting and asking me (WP) for my meal choice first then going to seat mate who was almost certainly a nobody ( ;) ). Cabin was only me and another until the flight before was cancelled

You are Platinum though?
I‘m thinking it may just be luck of the draw but would estimate that in 80% of our flights we get served first even if in row 2. Always full paying too so don’t know if that enters the equation or not

Yes. Platinum. I fly the same flights, same day(s), week in, week out. I was higher in the pecking order as gold! Or else the demographics of my flights have changed to become super plat heavy.

I don’t know whether it’s a coincidence or not as a pair but when I fly with Mrs Jase who is also a Plat we nearly always are served first. When I’m on my own it’s more hit and miss 🤷‍♂️

I booked my favourite eldest son to fly home from Brisbane to Perth in business class in September for about 44,000 points plus $0.40. It was more points to go in economy for the 5 hour 55 minute flight.

Flew ADL-SYD-DPS earlier in the week.
Both flights in row 2 and both times no choice of meal available.

ADL-SYD, 3 pax in row one. I was first in row 2 in 2A and only the veg choice remained. No idea what the other option was. Quite forgettable. Maybe a pumpkin and pine nut something that was very oily??? No wifi. Total 7 pax in J.

SYD-DPS, 4 pax in row 1. Row 2 DF followed (I was in F) and only option was chicken parmy. All interactions (PDB, meal, top ups) were asked directly to the pax by first name. J cabin full. No wifi and in fact the whole streaming entertainment thing was borked. (VH-YIU) They knew this on boarding as advised everyone to download own content before the doors were closed.

How many serves of each choice are supposed to be loaded? Would seem to be only three or four which I would deem unacceptable.

That's certainly a sub par experience. Other will know how many of each meal.
I've never not had a choice, guess just luck.

I'd send a friendly email to VA of your experience, best to inform them of these ordinary pax experiences.

OMG, dream flight!

Departed on time. Great crew. Offered meal choice first. Top ups offered. Wifi and streaming working! arrived early! Acknowledgement of country and standing at cabin divider on arrival.

Parma rotation.

That’s how it should be every week!

As for the other comments by previous posters… IIRC it’s a 5-3 mix of meat vs vego?

As for writing in about sub-par experiences… it’ll get absolutely… nowhere.

You’ll get a canned response that they’re sorry they didn’t meet your expectations, and that wifior entertainment is not guaranteed. Even after a run of 50% of entertainment not working at all (4/8 flights in a row), they stuck to the line that it’s free, and not guaranteed :(

Although as a platinum they answer you pretty quick!

Going back a couple of months but a couple of excellent light meals coming out of HBA.

Prosciutto salad. Generous serve and very fresh.

Open Reuben. Also fresh and tasty.

Most of my flights recently marked with outstanding service. PDBs (including stopping the boarding process for a minute to allow later boarding J pax to get theirs); regular top-ups; pantry/snack items offered even on short hops (which partially makes up for the absence of hot food).

Really good recent experiences.
