Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

VA1373 LST-MEL
16:51-17:44
Offered the pearl cous cous with prosciutto (my choice) or a “middle eastern” salad with croutons.

It was delicious, though not filling. I only realised as I was eating it that I hadn’t had anything since breakfast. PDB was half filled and we only had one drink provided with our meal (service time was about 20 minutes, cabin was 4/8, a second round should have been offered)

Connecting flight was VA349 MEL-BNE. 20:33-22:25 (delayed 35 mins).

Offered a meat-free tortellini or chicken parmi with veg (my choice). It was really tasty and hit the spot. No issues with drink refills (managed 5 vodka & lemonades including one in a paper cup for landing).

Priority boarding also worked in both LST and MEL (pretty much) but priority baggage didn’t happen in BNE.

5 Vodkas & parmi...sure you weren't at a pub, not onboard a plane.
love it.

Fabulous or fail?

Fabulous!

Thursday evening MEL-SYD. Parma rotation. Offered meal choice first, and served first! Around 10 mins before the next passenger. Regular drink top-ups offered. Wifi working! Exceptional crew. Business class offered priority disembarkation.

Well done!

The flight down to MEL… on the fence. Brand new CSM. Felt more like this was their first time ever on board. Strange. Load was 5/8 platinums, 2/8 gold, 1/8 silver. All the plats bar me in row 2.

Weird that the ‘exec looking’ guy (middle aged, in expensive suit, working on lap top) in row 1 went to use the WC, but was checking the cabin bulkhead by the door, and then the panel immediately between the galley and cabin to find the WC. How is that even possible?

Went through the full meal rotation across the day today. J full on all flights - mix of regulars and some newbies (giveaway was not knowing where the tray table was...). Service level varied a bit but overall good and orders taken in a varied order. Everything on time or early and PDB offered on each flight.

"Scrambled egg on Turkish". Was probably somewhere between a egg and mayo sandwich and Persian eggs. Alternative option was the Bircher museli.

Mezze plate. Very good. This was the 'lunch' option at 10.30am in the morning. Alternative was the Thai green curry.

Veggie quiche with mash. Not a lot of flavour in the quiche and the foil tray for the relish was a little different. Alternative was the open Reuben sandwich.

Jagged the parma (yes, I'm a Victorian so this is the correct pronunciation). Chicken was very good but not sure the crumb copes with the steam oven. Sweet potato mash was undewhelming. Alternative was a tortellni with cherry tomato (looked good but they'd run out so couldn't try it.

Fabulous or fail?

Fabulous!

Great service from the CM. I’m now starting to get recognised by the crew from previous flights. Which is nice.

Service intuitive.

Generous PDBs and drinks with meals. First crack at meal choice. Green curry rotation. priority disembarkation for business class.

Wifi enabled and worked without issue.

Amazing that lounge staff and crew are welcoming me back but as yet not a peep from anyone at Velocity loyalty. Really bad business model. Not even an email to say ‘hey, you’ve been flying with us a bit’.

After this year when I try to set a PB for SCs, I’ll be looking to other carriers.

I remember receiving something similar at the end of the year usually
That’s fine. But i’m not sure bothering to turn your mind to it once a year is good enough! I have a choice if carriers, you’d think they’d be doing everything possible to get market share? (apologies, this is OT!)

Everybody has a choice of carriers.

What are your exactly expecting??
An email? You'd say is that all.
A phone call? They said nothing, just a thanks etc.
You want access to the beyond club is my guess.

You fly heaps, reached top tier, want more, fly Airlines that gives you more perks with your amount of flying. Simple, what's with this seemingly experiment.

The quicker your year ends and we hear more of your disappointment the quicker you move over to VH run airline the happy we'll all be.
no. beyond club is off the table, but a call to say ‘hey, what’s been your experience, anything we can do to make it better?’ might be good.
