Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I had the lamb shank for lunch on the VA Syd-Per flight yesterday...the meat melted in your mouth; would have loved a bit more tho. My pictures are below:

The entree wasn't too bad either:p

King Prawns with sweet corn salsa and chipotle dressing
Had this on my PER-MEL flight on Sunday. Happy to report it was as tasty as it looked (the shank was great; ate the whole thing with a fork only!).

One thing that *really* annoys me (and it's not VA, it's 'chefs' in general) is that they leave the tail on the prawn. I mean, it may 'look' nicer, but considering there is a substantial amount of flesh under the shell they leave on, it means you have to get your fingers in there to remove the shell, which is not what you want to be doing in J; it's messy and looks undignified!

You use your finger :o - no, cut the flipper off at the joint (where that chive is balancing) and either slide out the entire portion of the flesh (using your fork) whilst holding the shell with you knife), or cut off the shell with your knife.

I eat the tails regardless, nice roughage.

I'm quite happy eating a whole prawn shell at Tepanyaki or the like as they basically fry it on the grill until it's crispy, it's like a real prawn cracker.

On a regular cooked prawn, it's not tasty. As for the other suggested method, I could see the Pretty Woman line happening... "slippery little suckers" ;)

Wow, that lamb shank looks like half the size of the serving I got a month ago on the MEL-PER sector. Personally, I thought the king prawn entrée was a real winner for me.

MEL lounge hotdog!! Well we know the regulars just love'm!! :D

MEL - BNE Snack - Panini with eggplant & buffalo mozzarella (was actually same snack choices as NTL - MEL so thought I would try other. Was on 5pm departure, thought that was dinner service??)

BNE - ADL Dinner - Malaysian Chicken Curry, was tasty enough but i found it a little difficult eating the chicken from the bone. Would have preferred a breast or thigh.

Overall service across all fights was good, and crews keep me well and truly hydrated which is what I enjoy when I travel!

BNE/ADL this morning. CS was Annie - we recognized each other at the door. Was fantastic service in J - only 2/8 made it easy. Has a long chat after service to her and FA Julia.

Breakfast: option of Bircher Museli or Ham & Mushroom omelette and croissants - I chose the latter:

Very nice way to end my flying week
Dinner: option of Cheese plate or Tasmanian Salmon on a bed of crushed potatoes - I chose the latter.

was told the mock tail was discontinued

See how tired I was last night :o.

Devastated about the Mocktails being pulled, if that is the case. Why would they pull on one aircraft type and not the other??

I don't think the mock tails have been on the 330's for a long time now.
I think searching through the forum will show that is the case

Now that I think about it, mannej, you're right - I was only offered Champagne or water on my SYD/PER flight a couple of weeks ago, after having the Mocktail on BNE/SYD.
