Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

ok, recent experience with j dining...
BNE-MLB (morning flight) - breakfast burrito... wasn't half bad
MLB-ADL (lunch flight) - prawn linguine... also quite good
ADL-MLB (afternoon flight) - cheese platter, wasn't a fan, they also had some white Belgium chocolate icecream which was amazing
MLB-BNE (evening flight) - had the linguine again, not as good as the MLB-ADL leg, pasta was a little too soft (overcooked). My friend had the vegetarian burrito... it was amazing.

all in all, quite happy with the catering options this time round. It appears you can ask to have vodka in your mocktail, but only after takeoff...

Just saw a friend post on Facebook that they have a nasty case of evacuation from both exits courtesy of the trout afternoon snack dish!

Love the people who blame sickness on one thing or another, unless you get samples tested its more than likely they are wrong in their assessment depending on the actual cause and its gestation period, which can be days.

I flew HKT-PER-MEL in J over the weekend.

PER-MEL was downgraded to 737 with no notification...however the VA back end let the team down.

Provided positive and negative feedback to VA about the two flights. Received an email back from VA offering a domestic business class upgrade free of charge on a flight of my choice, subject to availability of course.

Not a critique of the meals so much (the meals on both were fine), but got a "too bad, so sad" response from Virgin re an un-announced/non-advised 738 sub for the 330 transcon.

Interesting, I provide positive/negative feedback on a majority of my VA flights. I've never *asked* for anything but I made sure they knew I wasn't happy about not being told. I would be chasing it up if it matters to you enough.

Not really, however reports on here of pax being notified of change and offered via SYD / later / earlier flights didnt happen for me, nor was any compensation offered. So I was a bit miffed I wasnt notified or offered an alternative and I found out when I boarded the aircraft.

Could be a difference between planned and last minute!

VA 951 27/6/13
Seat 2f
Exceptional service all round. Greeted by name, asked for meal preference when offering preflight drinks
Snack service was some meat thing, with the lemon meringue pie, which is really nice
The CS was very attentive, offering extra bread rolls, foods, drinks were constantly checked, and topped up if need be, o dodnt have to request topups, she was onto it.
Came around individually to all 6 passengers in J cabin, told us each individually the same thing " we will be starting descent in 5 mins, and the seatbelt light will be on early die to turbulence, best to use the toilet now if you need to go. She then proceeded to personally thank us individually for flying virgin.
It was polished service, quality catering, and exceptional attentive flight crew

I even managed to book through the website, 12 hours before the flight, in 2 minutes flat. Amazing stuff, and im not easily impressed

Hi bcworld...looks like the Melbourne to Newcastle run I did on Thursday and back! 3/4 choices are the same. Just went for the veggie option on the last Brisbane to Melbourne flight, as I was chock full. The pie and pumpkin salad were the two hits for me, not to mention the vodka and cokes on the way.:)

Lol...yes, it was an MEL-NTL via BNE run on Saturday. I can't remember what the other choice was on BNE-MEL (too drunk!)...on MEL-BNE it was a Mozzarella salad which looked great and my neighbour said was excellent...wished I'd had that.

I got a choice of the Beef pie or the Chickpea salad, but they had only loaded 4 and 4 of each. so I ended up with the Chickpea salad!
But it was actually very nice.

I'l post my pics up shortly.

Yum - bcworld thanks for posting. Those first 3 look awesome and had me salivating. Got to get onboard again soon (use up my upgrades)

Flew J BNE-MEL Saturday morning, yhen MEL-CBR Sat afternoon
Both legs were as my previous flight Thursday. Very polished service, and attentive crew Suitably impressed with every aspect

I have to say, I'm finding VA service J service much better than QF lately. Amazing service tonight. Had the saffron prawn fettuccini tonight, seat mate with bean burrito. Both great. Lots of refills and great service. Defiantly becoming more consistent with service etc.
