Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

A few meals from a 'DUD' run over the long weekend:
SYD-HBA, HBA-MEL Breakfast: Quite standard, enjoyed the lychees though.

MEL-BNE Lunch: Chicken Pasta, tasty enough but chicken/pasta were inconsistent temperatures. And #cheesegate.

BNE-DUD Dinner: Proscuitto salad with slightly less prosciutto...
I had some pretty good curry in the Premium Plaza lounge so I delayed my meal service which was either the same chicken pasta from earlier in the day or the salad.
The salad didn't taste too fresh (I'm sure others may have better experiences) and the prosciutto was less than other customers who received theirs before me.
Also #cheesegate

DUD-BNE Breakfast: Fruitatta with cherries
It came with trout topping but asked them to hold it as couldn't get my head around seafood for breakfast.
Already had a pretty good cafe breakfast from the voucher given in lieu of the lounge before boarding.

Apparently they forgot to load the yogurt.

I’m not a frequent trans-Tasman VA flyer, but I think one cheese is all you get. Isn’t it only on the trans-con flights that the business class service is more like long-haul?

These photos were from a flight taken in March (I just joined AFF today, so I hope I'm not screwing up the thread by posting older meals). SYD-DPS. Lunch was a salad with feta and prosciutto (I understand a few others in this thread have experienced the same meal). They had options of a creamy chicken pasta that the flight attendant tried to push on me, but the salad was tops, particularly after the delicious breakfast I had in The House.

When I took the above photo, I was more interested in the tiny salt and pepper shakers, but you get an idea.

The cheese platter (with a few bites taken). It was huge, particularly after the salad, bread roll and two glasses of wine. Delicious though.

Welcome aboard. Never too late to post information or experiences. That’s what the forum is all about!

MEL-AKL this morning. Lamb with barley. Not great, not bad, just OK. I had better mains in Y last trip. Cheese was good. Cake was a horrid quinoa concoction I don't think anyone finished theirs. 20190617_103433.jpg

i flew 12pm melb to sydney and got the lamb and barley meal with cheese crackers etc. really lovely. on the way home 7.30 syd - melb the sausage roll, again nice but a lot lighter than the lunch. the lounge had soup and not much else hot unless you wanted a toastie, on the way home was roast beef rolls. good cold selections but the hot food really let them down.

ADL-BNE 09:10 flight. Choices were Bircher muesli or a chorizo and bean pita pocket.

Tasted good and I enjoyed it. Would have been even better had I not had Mexican the night before!
Nice fruit loaf also offered (alternative was a regular roll). No problem having a wine a bit later in the flight.

Only two of us in J. So nice not to have staff take up any empty seat, as happens on Qantas, and to have the cabin genuinely to yourselves. ie, no Y intruders, strictly enforced.

You’ve been following me around @kermatu :D. PER last week and now ADL this week. Hope you enjoy my hometown tonight.

These were taken on Sunday afternoon - big afternoon storm building and hammered the north side of Brisbane

Mon 17/6 VA1384 BNE/ADL

Chorizo, tomato and cheese open omelette IIRC. Tasty, but I enjoyed the fruit more (love lychees). Was also served a brioche with fruit bits, nicely warmed and perfect with butter.

Great service from Amanda and cups of tea kept coming to wake me up.

Open omelette, or pita pocket??

BNE-CNS 13:25 flight.

Mains choices were lamb or a cheese and prosciutto salad. I went the lamb with barley.

It was pretty tasty and surprisingly substantial.

Service was the usual excellent VA fare. Very quick after takeoff so no chance for a pre-meal drink. But no dramas with one after.

Completely forgot to post these:

Wed 12/6 VA690 PER/MEL (2.00pm)

Very fortunate to get an On-Departure upgrade and particularly lucky I got a meal as I was Catering Not Assured. I had a small meal in the Lounge just in case as I knew I had the pantry just in case
