Chicken Tagine + Cheese Tortellini

A huge improvement over the abysmal Tofu Bowl and average roast Turkey we got on the outbound on Xmas Eve - honestly that resembled what you’d get on the flag carrier of a developing nation.

Tagine wasn’t bad but the Tortellini was quite wonderful. I also really appreciated being served the whole bottle of scotch like an adult. No chocolate or treats unfortunately although the old bloke behind me asked if they had any chocolate cake and they managed to get him a wee muffin (I assume FOC)

The tortellini looks incredible cheesy! Now I feel even worse about missing out on it twice recently lol

BNE-SYD 3 JAN
Mid morning departure out of BNE, service from onboard crew was great, even with a near 20 minute delay due to late inbound and a few missing pax for our leg.
Sitting in 2C with Mrs Hawk in 2A, we were advised that only the Cajun Chicken with Dirty Rice was available to us. Whilst it looked reasonably visually appealing, it was bland - the chicken thigh fillet was nicely done and moist, however there was zero taste and zero "cajun" spice or flavour.
The Pinot Noir, on the other hand...quite nice and definitely more flavourful.
Landed in SYD a few minutes late, however as we were pointing south and on the 3rd runway, was nearly 15 minutes late to the gate...not that we were too fussed - public holiday and us being on holidays etc!
In summation, service 10/10, chicken 1/10, wine 7/10...
Heading back to BNE on an evening flight later this week...will be interested to see what's on offer there.20220103_110420.jpg

Looks good but Cajun chicken is just boring without any zing and spice. Disappointing and hopefully you supply feedback

Mid morning departure out of BNE... Cajun Chicken with Dirty Rice
I have noticed as well, that they seem to be serving lunch quite early. Can anyone in-the-know advise if they still have a "brunch window", or do they go straight from breakfast to lunch now?

An old ET article seemed to indicate meals before 0959 are breakfast. Personally hoping for brekky on the 0930 MEL-SYD tomorrow...in fact if they served breakfast 24x7 I'd quite possibly be happier 😂

Qantas could take a lesson from that "egg and bacon pie" and the way it's plated! Hopefully tasty?

Chicken Cacciatore Penne. Looks like it was bumped around a bit in the trolly but tasted delicious. One of the nicer meals I have had lately.

BNK-MEL last week.

Can I say it looks a little plain & possibly cheap?

Great so many posting what to expect onboard VA J though.
