In addition, they do occasionally bring around a plate of LMPPs (Luke Mangan Party Pies) or mini pizzas. They don't just put them on the buffet - I think that discourages the men in suits from running to the buffet and taking 5 pies each like in the QP!

Yeah those party pies were pretty great in the BNE lounge, searing hot when they're first handed out though, make sure the roof of your mouth's ready for that!

I know there's another thread going on about the refit (which I understand is complete for the E-Jets) -- I'm flying SYD-CBR-BNE in J in a few weeks, and for the E-Jet, I was wondering what the best seat opinion was in J for flying solo?

I know the left hand side is a seat on your own, but are you just really conspicuous to the people behind you? Is the leg room better in row 1, or 2? (IMO 2 is way better on the 73H).
Any feedback appreciated!

Took a refitted E190 yesterday and sat in 2A. It looks like the bulkhead would seriously restrict legroom in row 1 (there were 3 of us in J all in row 2). In 2A you are fairly open to 3C&D but you just don't look behind you. My biggest complaint would be that the windows don't line up with the seats, you either have to recline your seat or lean a fair way forward to see out to the window. I would recommend 2A for a single traveller though.

Row 2 right hand side if you can get a shadow. But as they are not long flights row one is ok too. If you are short, row one as well. Bis section is behind a partition (open at the isle) so you dont feel like you are being watched from behind. If there is a j class passenger they will block the Y's from using your bathroom too. Have a good flight.

On left hand side (port) of aircraft seats 1A and 2A on the single side are good for single travelers but watch out for the slightly smaller lockers than usual if you are a "kitchen sink" HLO traveller. I haven't sat there yet but on the right side (starboard) of the aircraft 1D & 1F and 2D & 2F are good except in the very unlikely circumstance of a full J cabin where if in the window seats 1F and 2F you would have to get past any people seated in 1D or 2D. Obviously much better overhead bin space in 1D&F and 2D&F. Its just my opinion, but the location of seats 1D and 2D, and the alignment of the aisles and cabin dividers (almost in the centre of the aircraft) feel a bit more exposed and are less private, maybe a little more prone to being bumped?

But no such thing as a bad seat in J class...

Sat in 1A once, but since I was the only Business traveller I swapped to 1F to use the two tray tables.

I personally prefer 2D. The smaller overhead lockers are annoying for 1A and 2A. I'm 6'3 and Row 1 feels less comfortable.

As a side note, there is no coughtail table between seats (1D/1F, 2D/2F), unlike on the 737. Only the small pullout table is there. Also, the smaller overhead lockers extend back into the economy class cabin for the seats in A/C. I'm not sure how far back but least to row 7.

Sitting in 1A as I post - it has at least 20 cm less foot room than the 2A I had earlier today.

Had a closer look from my inflight 1A viewpoint.

Row 1 has about 45 cm from the front of the seat to the bulkhead; row 2 has about the same to the back of the seat in row 1 but has an additional 35cm (at least) under the row 1 seat in front.

So for foot room:

Row 1 - 45cm (1'6")
Row 2 - 80cm (2'8")

For me, at 6' Row 1 is ok for a short flight.

Here are a few cabin shots I took from my recent E190 flights and I'm 6ft1. All taken from row 2 as I wanted the extra leg room under seat,
