Virgin Australia Fares Increase Again

I've been noticing that the flights have gone up considerably in the last month or two, so hopefully this isn't yet again...

I've noticed that Saver, Flexi and Business fares have risen again today across the board on most major domestic routes.

Could be to do with Virgin offering discounts to small businesses.

Do you have any examples? A couple of MEL-SYD and MEL-CBR fares for December came up with the same base pricing as before.

It'd be really disappointing to see it rise. Getting between MEL and SYD is becoming increasingly costly, which is surprising for what is, I'm pretty sure, the world's seventh busiest air route.

OT, but it doesn't help there's no ground competition. High-speed rail really needs to start being talked about.

The routes I regularly fly BNE<>SYD, BNE<>MEL have increased today or very recently.

BNE-SYD has gone from 145 to 149, BNE-MEL has gone from 189-195.

MEL-SYD has gone up to $195

That's pretty ridiculous. I've been making the most of the sales and applying promo codes in advance and booking the latest, cheapest flight. If you have gold/plat, just use fly ahead, have never had a problem being put on the next flight.

Agreed that its ridiculous.

The average QF fare for MEL-SYD is $200, however its not hard to find $160 fares through random times on most days... Certainly puts VA in a different light.

you could always drive..spend $100+ in fuel and travel/concentrate for 8hrs+ along with all the other costs (food at service stations...stress of driving...etc etc etc..lol.)..or take a train..and all associated costs lol....or spend less in total 'real' costs for the convenience of air travel:rolleyes:....and some still continue to complain about the cost of air travel

If the price of air fares doubled you could still apply that logic. Just because it's more convenient doesn't mean we can't voice our frustrations with the cost of air travel.
