Relatively good but not great.
Ah! I was looking at SYD not PER. That explains everything.

Yeah, $9-$10k ex SYD. That’s a big pass. Even $7k ex PER is still pretty expensive thanks to the Oz “tax”.Ah! I was looking at SYD not PER. That explains everything.
You will be able to book Reward Seats for these flights from 21 January 2025, for flights expected to commence June 2025 onwards (subject to regulatory approval). Reward Seats are subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.
Confirms that J on the VA flights does get Al Mourjan, which is good. Seems like the Platinum and Gold experience is largely the same though, except for a slightly different lounge in DOH...Haven't seen this posted anywhere - Virgin has a pretty detailed page on the new Doha flights, and FAQ and a bunch of other info that answers questions like:-
- when do reward seats go on sale
- what lounges are they using
- how do I select my seats
- etc

No additional baggage for status members. From memory this is also the case when traveling on a QR operated VA codeshare although IIRC passengers in Y each received 30kg of checked luggage which could be split across multiple items.Haven't seen this posted anywhere - Virgin has a pretty detailed page on the new Doha flights, and FAQ and a bunch of other info that answers questions like:-

VA members don't get priority on domestic reward seats, so can't imagine they'll get priority on these flightsWhen they finally release Velocity J seats, will Plantinum members get priority
Given they’re not offering points upgrades, bid upgrades or even extra luggage for platinum members expect very few J reward seats to be released! When they finally release Velocity J seats, will Plantinum members get priority
Thanks. I've got my J flight to Europe (Oct 25) using Velocity points with Qatar. Hopefully I get the return flight (for Dec 25) when they become available with Qatar in early January, or if any become available with Virgin later in JanuaryGiven they’re not offering points upgrades, bid upgrades or even extra luggage for platinum members expect very few J reward seats to be released!
More flights = more J reward seats.Given they’re not offering points upgrades, bid upgrades or even extra luggage for platinum members expect very few J reward seats to be released!
If you’re talking about cash fares (not using points) then you won’t be able to buy a ticket from Madrid (or any port originating outside of Australia for that matter) as Virgin don’t have the rights to sell tickets to Australia only flights from Australia. How come I can search something like SYD - MAD but not MAD - SYD ? Even changing it in the url doesn't work, but you can book return flights. Very weird.
