Yes everyone will have status, plenty of velocity points, and of course the very practical and overflowing "travel banks"

They are in effect claiming FM as grounds for not refunding passengers for cancelled flights. Only airline to be doing so in this crisis. I guess that explains why they are managing to avoid making any major layoffs despite the fact they are hardly flying any planes.

Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul!

I've not shifted a single point to SQ and I won't be, either. I think VA will survive.

Well you work for them correct based on your recent posts?

Hey I am Plat for 2 more years, and hope they survive too, for you, other staff, and all flyers, but think they will be gone in weeks, and most certainly by June 30 as predicted elsewhere.

If it was business as usual across the industry I'd agree with you, the market forces would collapse them. These aren't ordinary times, every single company in the country is currently or will be hurting for the short term which changes the game for all players. Time will tell...

I do not work for them, but did several years ago.

Apologies - it was Jase05 who was assuring members here Virgin had not retrenched any staff even after Qantas furloughed 66% of their workforce - got you mixed up.

To the best of my knowledge no staff have been retrenched yet that is why you haven’t heard of it but can assure you there are staff that have been asked to take leave without pay for the next 4 weeks and a roster system is being implemented. I know this for sure because I work with them but I’m happy to tell the 8 blokes at ADL airport that I work with .....

Anyway .. all moot now as the world has moved on fast since. Hope Virgin does the best they can for staff at this terrible time.

That 'another year' starts in 15 months - you will be QF WP at least until end of May 2021 with the extension. Any more SC earned before May 31 2020 could only help for 2400 bonus benefits or attaining P1.
This is getting very confusing.

Are you saying that Qantas is giving me Platinum status until May 2021? So I don't need to earn any SCs until June 2021?

Also with Virgin does this news mean I will have Gold status until October 2021? If SCs reset October 2020 do I still need to earn 400 SCs by October 2021 to keep for another year?

Darn, Mr Clipped just soft fell to Gold on the 15th March. He would have stayed Gold for the next 12 months anyway, so this means nothing:(

@clipped_wings check Mr Clipped's Velocity account. I dropped back to Red around the same time (have been pooling everything to Mr J so he can keep Gold), logged into my account today and found I'm back to Silver - looks like there was another status review done three days ago, which means I'll be eligible for the gift SCs :)

Looks like they must have decided (hopefully) to reverse status drops which occurred over the past few weeks?

October 2020 do I still need to earn 400 SCs by October 2021 to keep for another year?

If your velocity SG was valid till Oct 2020 , then it will not be valid till Oct 2021 , however you will have to earn enough SCs/fly the required number of sectors by Oct 2021 in order to be SG beyond Oct 2021.

I received this today, noting that my extended review date was October 23, 2020 - that was already my review date. Is this an error or does it appear I won’t actually be receiving the extension?

Just got the email from Velocity stating that status has been extended “for a further 12 months” but I can’t make sense of it.

Currently (before the COVID fiasco) am Platinum until May 2021, my review date is coming up in six weeks and I’ve qualified based on the past year of flying and spend.

So I was expecting to log in and see an extension until May 2022, or at least May 2021 - but it appears nothing has changed. Anyone else in the same boat and having issues?

Same error. Unfortunate typo. Website also not updated.

It does seem like they have botched the dates. My review date is still the same. Also, the VFF/VA app doesn't reflect the supposedly new review date.

Same for me.. "New" review date is still my existing September 19th 2020.
