Click here for a list of current Virgin Australia discount codes:

A while back VA had a discount code that could be used for (almost) any domestic booking.

Are there any discount codes that work at the moment?

Thanks!

uh oh thanks Serfty! Admitting I had not been very active here as I had not fly enough into Australia until this year. This will come handy, I shall subscribe that Happy Hour thread. Thank YOU!
Also make sure that your email address is up to date with Velocity and VA and they should email you each happy hour.

GOod point! I am a Velocity member but a lost member that has no status, so I should go and check my profile with them. I could not remember my numbers so had to wait when I am back home. Thanks for this.

Just comparison shopped with the various codes listed and found a % price difference for the exact same details of just over 8% from best to worst.

One provided no discounts (looking to book lowest flight availble on 'monopoly' route) and the others gave discounts ranging from just over 4% to just over 8%.

So while it can take a few minutes longer - it is worth trying all shown as 'working codes'.

BTW - the best result (in this search & booking) for a June 2019 rtn flights was BDR47

It’s always worth checking as some codes apply different discounts on the type of fare booked.
I’ve seen some for example that don’t give a discount for Business Saver and quite a few don’t discount Getaway fares.

Still always better to try than just paying the full whack upfront.

What was perhaps more interesting though (perhaps my OP should have been longer...) was that looking at the days before/after then the results for each code were different again with the best result not being the same code.

All 4 codes I tried did apply to the 'Getway' fares just not necessarily for the date I was after.

Suggests that the codes apply to a specific sub-class per fare class bucket - so several codes apply to the same class at the same time.

BTW - best code for my booking on desired date was only best code for 1 of the 4 surrounding days.

Research pays....

It is good to take into account that generally these discounts are off the base fares and not the mandated Taxes and Levies.

So a $200 fare having $30 in +++ would be reduced by $17 with a 10% discount giving $183.

Very true for different fares in different ticketing codes but for the exact same code fare bucket the differences are more intriguing as was the case with my results today - same flight just different discount codes used all supposedly 10% off but the results very different for each day of the near monopoly flights (only 1 service daily by VA & Q).

Key point - Even if description of each available discount code is 10% off the fare type you are after it is well worthwhile trying each discount code to see what the reality turns out to be, in my case the one that was described a 5-10% off gave a bigger discount than one that was 10% off which yielded ZERO saving.

Hi RAM, I couldn't agree more and will give you another discount code to add to the list - FNS58 (Serfty - could you please add this to the Wiki?).

It's only a nominal 10% but as has already been said, all are worth trying for each particular flight and day of travel to see what gives the best bottom line result. ;)

Hi, I’m looking for a discount code that will work for a booking I’m making for next Saturday 26/10, do any work just over a week out?
Ta!!!

Good point, example of HBA-MEL flights with different active codes for flight 17th November so 1mth out
FNS58 none freedom 340 elevate 170
BRD47 freedom 308 elevate 155
HNV39 freedom 308 elevate 147.50
JTX27 freedom 308 elevate 162.50
KLM79 none freedom 340 elevate 170
DSX57 freedom 308 elevate 162.50

So makes a difference in lower fare classes.

Thanks - my usual code did nothing but HNV39 gave me a solid discount just then.
