Click here for a list of current Virgin Australia discount codes:

A while back VA had a discount code that could be used for (almost) any domestic booking.

Are there any discount codes that work at the moment?

Thanks!

Yes I went to book this morning and it has gone up even further. Even reward points are high. Just checked QF and may go with them. Reward points are much less and will start my trip with QF to keep Plat this year.....with Virgin I was going to try and keep my Status match. The only cheaper flights with Virgin don't suit unfortunately.

Not a promo code related post but I recently booked a VA J flight from MEL to SYD using Amex Travel Service (as I wanted to use my Amex travel credit) and found that the fare they offered was about 12% cheaper than booking direct with VA.

Booking direct with VA was $299 whereas Amex only charged $266. So I saved $66 for two tickets with no credit card payment fees.

Having said, I guess YMMV but I think it is worth noting it to the forum.

Tried Amex and it was $100 person more than Virgin website on a fare I am looking at.

And I avoid agents as if you need to phone and wheedle a flight or time change Virgin ask you to do it via agent. Book direct and they play ball most times.

Also knowing WHAT Virgin fare bucket is offered via agents is often impossible. You mostly get offered LITE.

I am gobsmacked Virgin do not have a number of those 10% off deals right now. Make them off Choice or Flew or Biz only and it is money for old rope. :)

So nothing seems to be working right now?

I agree with your other points but wanted to mention Amex Travel is very good in this regard, they are fully transparent with booking class for every leg on the booking.

The Amex Travel Service I used was fully online (accessed via the Amex website) so there was no need to deal with an agent.

As for the fare bucket, the website displays the booking class in the landing page so it is quite clear in my view.

Moral of the story, YMMV so its best to compare.

Amex may do it but few other online booking portals do which was my point, (and Amex were dear anyway.)

They will quote LITE fares so if that is all you need - the very cheapest ticket - fine, but good luck finding a CHOICE fare.

Amex IAP (for Plat & Centurion holders).
Two novice questions, so apologies in advance :)

1. I've got a QF Amex Ultimate and looking to book some VA J flights from the Amex travel portal - will this offer apply to me? Or is it limited to only Plat & Centurion?

2. What is IAP ?

Unfortunately not, you need a Plat/Centurion card to access.

The IAP (International Airline Program) discount is a benefit of these cards and usually only applies to flights booked in premium cabins on international routes - but it seems they've struck a deal with VA on domestic routes in all cabins.

trying to do this and it seems the discounting doesn't appear for 1 way trips.

was trying to use two travel credits and book separate 1 ways ;)

EDIT: ignore the above.. it does work fine for 1 way too.. system had logged me out hence not showing the discount
EDIT2: booked successfully as two 1ways, used the platinum $450 TC and the reserve $400 TC

10% cashback on VA domestic (up to $50) today using Cashrewards. No blackout dates/advance booking requirements.

Use of "voucher codes" makes transaction ineligible for cashback - presumably this means promo codes but stack at your own risk! Also cannot use flight credits or points.

1st time booking to complete platinum status challenge, where do you insert promo code?
BNE - SYD- CBR -SYD-BNE & not in black-out dates ...
No clue if this is best value but i'll be in Brisbane doing QF status run and I will have day spare....
Any other suggestions ex BNE...
Thanks...
