Folks, our CEO's presentation of half yearly results has photos of J class of our A330s and uniforms, somes notes on the ATR72 and details on new kerb-side entry to The Lounge in T2. Also some "teaser" timelines on future announcements.

This is posted on the ASX website (www.asx.com.au - do a price search in box at top of screen for code "VBA" and click Recent Announcements at far right of subsequent screen).

I think my colleague is also going to post some information.

cheers

The lounge at Coolongatta is also interesting, but where could the other two lounges mentioned be?

J class seems to be very nice.

I trust this will force QF's hand and they will improve their J class because that new A332 has very poor pitch and feels cramped.

Pity QF can't have direct lounge access from the kerb.

You mean, like how QF have put skybed equipped aircraft on the trans-con?

Was wondering that myself. HBA? CNS? NTL? DRW? Any other obvious candidates?

Or might they be referring to the international lounges that seem to be definitely coming in Sydney and perhaps somewhere else?

777.

Yes but that is only 1 or 2 flights per day.

I was thinking maybe they will go back to 6 wide seating and perhaps drop a row to improve pitch because even the Silverwing equipped J class is lacking pitch.

Skybeds are great but if you don't get them you feel very cramped.

Thought this timeline in the ASX information was interesting too:

By June 30 2010:
  • Unveiling new brand
  • Unveiling new product across the fleet
  • Unveiling revamped lounges
  • New marketing campaign

By December 31st 2010:
  • Rolling out domestic business class on 737 Fleet
  • Launch of new loyalty program
  • Ongoing product improvements on the ground

Will be an interesting year. Obviously all this wasn't announced today but when it will be announced was clearly laid out.

777.

Have they not already announced they are dropping the middle seat in their newest A330's?

Correct.

New DJ J Class looks great! QF's usual reactive move was to drop an Int'l config B744 on the route for a whole one flight per day.

They also increased the number of flights using international A330 aircraft,

This is all great news.

I am waiting for details on changes to the Velocity Program. It would be great if more of the Velocity program airline partners gave you Status Points/Credits - good that quite a number do though.

Nice J SYD-PER - be interesting to see what J class product will be on the shorter routes.

They said this a couple of weeks ago but this has not happened yet though, still able to select the middle seat (if I would feel so inclined that is :p )

I wonder if the DJ A330 J class will be 2-2-2 or 2-3-2. Hmm...The pictures don't give away much,

Exciting times! That said, not really a fan of the female FA attire ... it looks good with the jacket, but with the shirts it looks too plain, and both the belt and the over-sized scarf look a tiny bit ridiculous. ;) Doesn't really scream 'we're moving up-market'. J-class on the A330's looks amazing, too - can't wait to see it on the 737's. :)

Why does anybody care what the FA wear? I cannot see myself refusing to fly a particular airline because of the uniform?

If that were the case I would NEVER fly Aer Lingus, their uniform is GREEN.

All that really matters is the service and the plane.

I don't remember ever saying that I wouldn't fly an airline based on what the FA's wear. My point was that for me, it doesn't seem as though the uniforms (at least the female FA's without jackets) portray the image they're trying to attain by reinventing themselves.

Also, Aer Lingus isn't a bad uniform. And what do you have against green?
