Excellent idea. It would of course be via Canberra, Wagga and Albury :!:Maybe you can look forward to ATR's on BNE-SYD

I didn't know that QF had 763s still operating on BNE/MEL. Well, at least the timetables seem to suggest 763s but the operating equipment frequently suggested otherwise. .
Well, I suppose therein lies the hope for the future (of which it is probably easier to be optimistic about DJ than it is to with a similar level of optimism about QF).
It's only natural that the longest routes, i.e. PER routes, should get first dibs on the widebodies. Some of us can only speculate where DJ will draw its attention after the PER routes are sufficiently catered for.
It would be interesting if DJ do put an ATR on ABX-SYD,especially if QF decide to put one of the new Q400's on the route when they get them, that would give us an interesting choice, certainly better than the ageing REX Saab 340's although I suspect it may be a while before QF gives us a new Q400 to try out.Excellent idea. 2-2-2 config, 6 abreast seating.
edit: cant post links bawwww!
See Australian Aviation for the article.
With only 6 abreast in a 333, I'd never seen a luxury sports car with such a huge seat (barring those ones with a "continuous" long front seat, i.e. no handbrake in the centre). So either its not a huge wide seat or you've got generous aisles (creating a feeling of more cabin space).Said Hulsbosch, “The seating and experience of this aircraft has been designed to say contemporary quality, with luxury leather padded seating that feels as though you are driving a luxury sports car..."

Hmmm, was only last weekend I was watching an episode of Aircrash Investigation on the TiVo, where a Tuninter ATR72 ran out of fuel halfway between Italy and Tunisia in 2005, because the wrong fuel quantity indicator was installed.
A fuel quantity indicator designed for an ATR42 was accidentally fitted - mechanically it was able to be fitted, and nobody noticed it was the wrong model number. As usual, there were other contributing issues.

They look like nice aircraft though!
Good to see DJ going at the right direction. Hopefully we all actually try out DJ J rather than waiting for QF to lower their QF J prices!

The ATR72 would have to be the most hideous aircraft I've ever flown on - at least in the American Eagle configuration. Cramped, noisy, absolutely no legroom, no overhead locker space, and rude crew. Now, the rude crew and legroom Virgin Blue might be able to avoid, but certainly not the rest of it!
That is not as funny as you think. The 737's are bad enough....Maybe you can look forward to ATR's on BNE-SYD
Anything in this announcement for economy travellers?
The lounge at Coolongatta is also interesting, but where could the other two lounges mentioned be?
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Well that takes care of PER.Only a 'coming soon' teaser, relating to the economy product on the A330.
More interested in changes to Velocity and possible global alliance memberships. No news on what the IFE is going to be etc.
