New livery on the A330 last night

Virgin Blue has become a born again Virgin Australia!

I like their new livery. Clean, crisp, modern. Let's hope the rest of the changes are similar!

I agree Mal, it looks clean and crisp but the word 'Virgin' looks a bit squashed on the tail, maybe the shouldn't of used bold font he he

.

Agree, looks nice, very similar to Qantas, its almost like they used the same design company.... Oh wait, they did ;)

Lol. Yeah I agree. But, I'm not one to judge why the tail took on that font/size, so will leave it to the boffins to correct :)

Virgin Blue is now Virgin Australia

Welcome Virgin Australia! I quite like the livery actually - it's very sylish and the name isn't too shabby.

Cannot wait to see these in the sky!

Revealed: Virgin Blue's new Virgin Australia logo, livery - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Goodbye Virgin Blue, hello Virgin Australia! Here is the first photo of the new Virgin Australia logo and livery which John Borghetti and Richard Branson will officially unveil at a press conference later today.
The Airbus A330 – snapped on the tarmac in the early hours of this morning by an eagle-eyed observer named 'jksc' - shows the airline has done away with Virgin Blue's bright red livery in favour of an elegant all-white design.

More news:

VIRGIN Blue will rebrand its operations today. | The Australian

VIRGIN Blue will rebrand its operations Virgin Australia today and immediately take the battle to its bigger competitor with the introduction of its first two-class Boeing 737.

Virgin Blue Group chief executive John Borghetti and part-owner Richard Branson will unveil the 737, sporting the airline's new livery and introducing the narrow-body aircraft version of its business class, in Sydney today.

Its fast-tracked introduction into service marks the shift into high gear of the carrier's campaign to boost its corporate market share from 12 per cent to 20 per cent.

The new plane will complement wide-body Airbus A330 services scheduled to start soon on routes between the eastern states and Perth and is part of a longer-term move to introduce premium travel across its fleet.
The latest phase of the airline's reinvention is expected to be backed by an extensive print and television advertising campaign.

The new 737 is arriving from Christchurch approaching Sydney as we speak. From what I understand the A330 is arriving a little closer to 9am from somewhere in Malaysia (not KL).

After meeting up together south-west of Sydney, they will land on the parrallel runways at Sydney, which this morning they are using the in south direction. Anyone just north of the airport will hopefully get a good look ath the approach together.

Given there are also delays into Sydney this morning I hope they will make it on time!

I like the new livery,it looks clean with the white background, the name clearly says that it's the Australian arm of the Virgin group,I'm not sure about the tail but it probably takes a bit of getting used too.
But the livery is one thing the devil is in the detail and now that we know what the planes like like on the outside we need to see how they plan to change the experience of flying on the inside,I for one hope they don't change it too much because I have always enjoyed travelling with them but they have set themselves up as wanting to compete with Qantas in the premium market, now they have to deliver, for their sake I hope they do.
Cheers
N'oz

Wouldn't mind a bit of a nudge when they're on approach - my office in Lane Cove doesn't have a south-facing window now, although if I venture outside I'll be able to catch both of them on approach to 16L and R. ;)

Wow, the new livery is a bit, well, underwhelming? I mean, very clean and fresh and all that, but there's not much to it. A big red Virgin on the tail, very predictable; Virgin Australia lettering in silver, very nice; and the rest of the plane is all white, well that didn't take much imagination did it?

For those of you in Sydney, we have our new aircraft currently in the air!

Hopefully you are following us on twitter, as we will let you know when they make their approaches into Sydney Airport! :D

Currently they are scheduled to land from the north, so a good view for anyone in the inner city!
