What was most interesting is the IFE (optical illusion of your head over your knee)...
I honestly thought that was from the movie, such is the conditioning to masks...! Might let that one go, no one needs to be put off their appetite any more than the snack box might...;)

Flew business Cairns to Brisbane on the 28th December and the service level was fantastic. Really helpful and friendly, particularly given we were 30 minutes delayed leaving and I only had a 40 minute gap to swap to my Brisbane to Melbourne flight. They checked in with the pilot/ground through the flight and kept me updated that the connecting flight was being held.

The snackbox, while not at the level of the hot meals that you used to get, was pretty decent considering the current situation and I was full/satisfied at the end of it which is the main thing. Wine selection was good and they weren't being stingy. Got through 3 glasses of a half decent Shiraz.

Brisbane to Melbourne I was in Economy. While the plane was packed Economy X only had 3 of us in it so was able to have a row to myself, put the arm rests up, spread out and have a nap.

This is good to hear. I've got so fed up with the poor standard of service with Qantas (and increasingly the attitude of many of their staff) that I've enrolled for Virgin's Discover Gold status match. The bar they have to better is not a very high one.

For instance, flying back from BNE to HBA via SYD recently with Q, because of delays due to "engineering issues" I estimated I would be left with 20 minutes max to make my connection. I expressed my concern to one of the flight attendants, who was totally disinterested and simply told me he expected it would be all right.
