Thanks Fruitcake. Post 1 in that thread lists "mid 2012" for initial installation. Any update (to me July 2012 would qualif as mid 2012)?

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for

I just experienced this situation. Well I've known about it for 13 days since doing seat selection. Aircraft had no business seats, all Y, for my flight tomorrow. I've been checking back every so often to see if the seat map changed. Anyway, I got a phone call this morning at about 9:15, decent hour and luckily I'd been up for about 7 minutes. (Life is hard on Le Tour) Anyway, I was given the news that there was no business on the flight, but the person had checked and there was business available on the 6:30am flight. The VA person then starting saying something else but I cut her off and agreed to the 6:30 flight. Why? I'll get a bit of an extra sleep in, VA have recently added the 6:30 flight ADL-SYD and I wasn't sure what the alternative would be. The bad bit is I'll be 30 minutes later for work.

I might have made a mistake by cutting the person off before they could tell me about the alternative if I stay on the original flight. Not sure if some form of compensation is normally provided. But I guess I can try out this new flight to see if it would suit my needs and I'll still get the business service.

Which flight were you originally on medhead? The 6am adl - syd is showing 738 seat map with J?

I was originally on DJ401 now on DJ 403. The seat map last night was the old configuration PE seating. How do you get to see the seat map for the flight? Are you on it?

You can do a dummy booking and if you have status and its within 14 days you can view the seat map by selecting seats.

That's ever so slightly annoying. Might have to call them. Why move me off the flight and then change the aircraft. Maybe because mine was one of the free upgrades? To ring or to let it go. decisions, decisions.

Why move me off the flight and then change the aircraft.

Quite bizarre.

Agree with previous comments - DJ401 AND 403 tomorrow are both showing as proper J aircraft AND entirely empty apart from you in J (you look very lonely there in seat XX). ExpertFlyer shows J7 for both.

FWIW - ExpertFlyer has DJ401 as a 737-700 with J for sale, and DJ403 as a 737-800 with J for sale. This contrasts to Virgin's site which shows them both as 737-800s with J for sale.

It confuses even *informed* frequent flyers.

(I reckon the 6:30am is the better bet. I have a theory that when this happens you get your freebie upgrade back to use again and still get to travel in J.)

One part of Virgin continues to not speak with the other.

However, every time I've looked for the last 13 days until last night, 401 had no J. The wall in front of row 1 on the left wasn't there and I could select 1B/E seats. So it must have been a no J aircraft at some stage. Anyway, I haven't rang. If I get to the airport in time, I might try fly ahead. Still I should try 403, given it's relatively new on the schedule at 6:30am.

Try Fly ahead at 6.00am and there will be no J breakfast loaded.

Might not even be a J plane with the conflicting info available.

I remember having a very similar situation occur - phone call to move me off a non-J flight to a J flight, but website indicated J still for sale on the aircraft I was moved off - I chose not to risk the earlier flight.

Ok, looks like I'm trying 403 then. Shame I need 2 check ins to become the Mayor. ;)
