Orange juice or water as welcome - No mocktail
Yes the meal was the business class evening snack - Cheese, crackers, and a frozen muffin

Seat was too small, limited recline - That's my issue

In that case, I wouldn't expect anything from Virgin to apologise and/or compensate you, because in their eyes they have provided business class service as per their definition of the product (which, in the E190 is two economy seats). Even if you had booked a 738 and were 'downgauged' the CSM onboard wouldn't know that.

If you didn't like the seat, I would contact them and complain. After all it's thanks to complaints back in February that they pulled this style of product from sale on the 737-700s. I don't think pulling E190 J sales is a reasonable business possibility for them at this point but you will at least be helping make them aware that the product has shortcomings and, if we're lucky, it might even get re-priced to better reflect its value to pax relative to 737-800 J. Although they've stuck with it for six months so odds of that might be thin.

I don't like that when I book and pay for what could be a business seat on newer 737-800 but end up with an older 'premium' seat.
Regardless of what they define as business, in terms of getting what you paid for it's still somewhat a lottery.
It's an issue VA will have to address because why would business passengers book a lottery type business seat they may or may not get on Virgin versus a guaranteed business seat on Qantas???

It is a little like selling someone a huge wedding cake and charging a corresponding amount for it, then giving them a cup cake.
While the customer got cake they were promised, there is a serious mismatch in regard to what was expected and paid for and what was delivered.

"Business Class guests experience second-to-none space and comfort, and exceptional inclusions."

That's a rather heroic claim. Presumably they mean second-to-no-one-else-on-board-that-particular-flight?

Appears they are selling J on some 737-700 flights now; have one on Friday, but the following 737-700 flight has no J.

They started fitting out all the 737-700's that they are not getting rid of this year with Bus seats.

Have all the 738s been refitted or are there still some getting around with the old Y+ seats?

Flying Business from TSV - BNE on DJ382, website says the aircraft is a 737-800, how can I find out if this plane has been refitted or if it's the old type with the "middle seat" in business??

Thanks for your help.

Has a final solution for IFE been determined for the fleet?

I knew you'd like that one.

Edit: Thanks Fruitcake. Post 1 in that thread says installation starting mid-2012. I think July suitably qualifies as mid 2012. Any update?
