This also applies to E190s - you can no longer buy direct flights scheduled on 737-700s or E190s in Business Class.

WELL DONE Virgin. This is exactly the right response to your initial misstep.

EDIT: Make that SOME E190s (eg ABX-SYD). More research needed on this point.

When i was looking at BNE-MKY for Feb , nearly all the E190 had Business with the exception of 1 . There must be still a handful of E190 to convert. That being the case , i assume that VA are able to flag Business / No Business based on the registration of the aircraft scheduled to do that route in advance . Im glad I'm not in operations !

Just Off topic , i noticed i have moved my status up from Junior Member > Member :D...i need to slow down the postings or maybe increase them to get the daily avg post up, until I click over closest to the AFF 500,000th posting race :D

Let me mention that I had a conversation with Velocity awards yesterday. After struggling with them for points earn about 1 1/2 years ago. Its all sorry sir, over and over, is all they could say. Booked direct with them so they had the paper work.

What can I do with all the points if I do not wish to fly with Virgin again - answer - you could shop with them.

They left me absolutely flat.

Virgin are bloody pathetic we have never received what they advertised - even the little things.

I don't know how they can sit you in PE configuration when you have paid Business. Very deceitful. Maybe contacting Consumer Affairs would help sort them out and get some compensation.

It really is a simple solution. Purchase a Flexi or Saver and you will know exactly what your getting and save a packet to spend elsewhere. :)

I've noticed since the switch, starting start of this year, that all HVB-SYD flights on DJ you can't buy Y+ or J. Ticket options are only Saver or Flexi. Even into next year.

My guess is we are probably one of the last routes to get J seats (Once daily service) - so they haven't got it as a valid option yet..

Nothing like market research on the customers. No complaints all good.

No chance, HVB along with ROK, GLT, ABY and a few others are not part of the J network!

This sounds like a welcome change by VA. Its always better to under promise and over deliver. Especially at the pointy end of the market.

What answer did you expect from them.

Many here would disagree with you. Virgin have been very proactive at sorting issues. They don't always get it right but they try, unlike Qantas.

I agree this needs to be sorted out ASAP.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - now 0 for 2. Pay for Business, get Premium Econom

Nope, just give you a ATR or FK100 !

 ORLY?? No way I'm doing 1.45 in an ATR. We are still getting the E190s. Use to get 737s on some flights, mostly 190s though.

When are they likely to announce any changes, or they'll just do it one day?

thanks for the info!

Virgin are bloody pathetic we have never received what they advertised - even the little things.

this is said partly tongue-in-cheek, but still - Virgin did transport you to your destination on a plane, right? seems to me you received the majority of what was advertised (perhaps "but not" the little things)...

How have they been proactive? They have had this issue before with the launch of PE and the rogues, yet they have let it happen again.

For those complaining about consistency. This to me wreaks of inconsistency. Why have some members on here received communication from virgin to advise them of the issues, yet others have received zilch, only to find out onboard.

And finally, 140 odd posts, yet not one from our great Virgin rep? I would have thought and issue like this would require their presence?

Virgin have been proactive, they have tried to tell people when a scheduled aircraft did not have J and have offered a refund, as for the people who were not told or where told incorrectly, both DJ and QF have had significant distruptions to their schedules for three weeks, I have never seen so many positioning flights, its likely that was a significant factor that cannot be planned for! I also think they launched too early in hindsight, which we all know is 20/20 vision.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - now 0 for 2. Pay for Business, get Premium Econom

Flew from ROK to BNE this morning on an E190 flexi fare. Rang platinum line last night to see if I could pay or points upgrade to premium, no sorry sir we don't sell premium any more and business is not available on that flight. Ok understood so as a platinum and on a flexi fare can I select to sit in row 1 or 2, no sorry sir we don't allow those seats to be used on this flight???
Tried again at checkin this morning and got the same story. Not a vacant seat on board except for all seats rows 1 and 2. Funny thing is this was the exact same aircraft that I flew BNE - MKY on Monday in Business class. How strange. Obviously a work in progress and not part of the J network as Markis10 alluded to a few posts back but why lock those seats out if the aircraft is sold as economy only?

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - now 0 for 2. Pay for Business, get Premium Econom

..but why lock those seats out if the aircraft is sold as economy only?

Just a random guess - but perhaps they want pax to understand that "first two rows = not economy". And perhaps when all aircraft are refitted, they intend on restarting sales of business class on those flights (which could lead to two weeks of problems if pax are allowed to pre-select those seats in the 14 days leading up to the flight).

My post referred to DJ being proactive across the board but I also said that this issue needs to be sorted.

markis10 has answered your question though.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - now 0 for 2. Pay for Business, get Premium Econom

We should also not forget that DJ had to can the changeover schedule when QF went AWOL for a few days in order to add extra capacity to the skies, that also must have been a nightmare to manage in terms of flow on effects!

FWIW, I have had extensive personal contact with Virgin on this issue with someone in a position to properly address these issues and I am quite satisfied that the issues have been taken very seriously and addressed as a priority.

Everything that has been promised has occurred as promised to date, with one final call back scheduled for Monday (would have been today but both of us are flying).

I have little doubt that the sudden unavailability of J on 737-700s is in response to the feedback Virgin have received.

Let's call it inconsistantly pro-active.

RedRoo got canned for his involvement in the T5 saga, yet not one mention about the lack of Virgin's presence in this form?
