Well clearly it would be a step up from Business Deuxieme
IMHO
The hair in food thingy warrants a gripe, but suspect that would be about Bali catering.
The lounge with paid wifi sounds better than a lot of Pacific lounges, with no wifi, paid or otherwise (HGU had no running water when I was there which didn't make for pleasant toilets.)
Cheese platter: what was the cheese like? It wasn't billed as an apricot platter.
As J goes I'd rate the seats as good, IFE as substandard on VA.
Comparing Virgin Atlantic with Short Haul Virgin Australia, well thats like comparing Wartburgs with Trabants (Fanboys: this is a joke) Or Hoolden Victras with Foord Tellstars
I expect an apology from anyone who doesn't gush with approval at my post
Isn't Friday night good!
Cheers skip
As for buyer beware, that it totally rubbish. This whole thing could have easily been avoided if the product is not marketed as "business class" as it is clearly not business class. But anyway there are people around who will continue to defend the airlines because they have nothing to better to do....I also struggle that this whole you should have known better and the differing levels of standards and service concept accepted by some, particularly evident right across the forum.
Sorry to hear your experience. Hope you hear back from Virgin customer service.
I really struggle to understand this jumping down people's throats that has become evident on AFF and the arrogance with which it is done. Someone has had a bad experience. Don't rub their face in the dirt because you think you know better.

Economy with no-one sitting in the middle seat.I still stick by my point that there is no definition of business class.
What do you propose VA market their 'premium' offering as?
Economy with no-one sitting in the middle seat.
I think my description is still fairly accurate. Are we talking about the same business class here? As in the 2x2 layout grey leather business seats, not the 3x3 premium economy seats?
I think my description is still fairly accurate.
What is so nice about the new business class seats? It is just like sitting in an economy seat with no-one sitting in the middle seat.
I am sorry for being so blunt but I do not buy all the spin from the Virgin fanbois as I have tried it the product for myself.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Would you state the same for J on the QF737-800's as well?I think my description is still fairly accurate.

I agree.I just got back from Europe. Far superior to any narrow body business class i've seen over there.
Not likely to fly Jetstar or Garuda this lifetime. I can easily travel in economy and much prefer to sit in Qantas economy than some carriers' business class products. Anyway I try to avoid overseas destinations that are full of Aussie bogans so you may not find me travelling to places like Bali or Fiji.If you honestly think the Virgin J hard product is almost identical as Y then there is no point discussing any further. Have fun in your lie-flat Garuda/Jetstar J seat with 12 course degustation.
I sure would. The difference though on a 767 is noticeable.Would you state the same for J on the QF737-800's as well?
Still waiting for someone to show us where Business class is defined in such a way as to validate the various complaints here about this (or that) product being "unworthy" of the label.
A definition that is legally binding on all airlines would of course be preferable...
Seriously folks.. it is NOT defined (and certainly not regulated!). The fact that the product doesn't meet your (as yet unstated) definition of "Business" is really not the airlines problem.
Although I agree that there is no standard definition of what service business class is. Passengers will still have expectations about the service they should receive. These expectations will be set from past experience, marketing, branding, word of mouth and other factors. Passengers will have varying expectations about what business class is. For the OP unfortunately their expectations were not met.
This does become a problem for Virgin if too many people have higher expectations of the service than what Virgin actually provide. Passengers will be disappointed with the service and end up thinking they are not getting good value for money. They will either try other carriers or just book economy tickets.

* class was far finer in the days when you factored in J SCs, whatever fare bucket you were booked inI find the death star J perfectly fine , when you factor price in.
