Virgin Dominates Qantas in Domestic Market

Or alternately, Virgin has grown substantially in the last 12 months why Qantas mainline has shrunk. Perhaps they are just looking for excuses to point that out? Either way it's hardly desperate.

I think the journo's just misread the numbers that were released by the two airlines. If anything, I am surprised by the sensitivity that the Qantas PR people showed in their rebuttal.

Including qflink I get (QF flight numbers, baggage interline, same uniforms etc) but trying to include Deathstar as well - please, they are not the same airline, its like dj trying to include tigers pax numbers.

Sure… if DJ owned a percentage of Tiger… but they don’t.

I do agree on the face of it that pitting QF+JQ against DJ is misleading, but they didn’t do that. I see including JQ’s numbers as "in addition we also…" rather than anything else.

I love QFLink, but I got my first upgrade on mainline (mainly because they can’t upgrade me on QFLink I guess).

It's just a bit of a marketing play... Jetstar also carried so many passengers, and both Qantas domestic and Jetstar are, separately, still more profitable than Virgin. It sounds good to shareholders, but for the rest of us, it just means that they are robbing us more of our money for AJ's new golf clubs.

QF always like to include Jetstar when they need it to bolster there figures and then are happy to say sorry they are another business unit and are independent of QF when it suits who ever.

If they keep Jetstarition of routes J* will have more of the market than VA
