no stranger than EY & SQ on the same register :)

Help me out - what's the significance of EY & SQ or SQ & CX being on the same share registers (or lack thereof)?

CX don't have enough spare 777s to upgrade Australian services. They would gladly provide VA with some codeshares into China I would think to compete with QF.

The logical thing for VA to do is shift the 777s to HKG service. CX are at their maximum flight cap and want more but won't get it without the air treaty being amended. Australian carriers are still allowed plenty more flights into HKG though - and it would have the benefit of not competing with SQ or EY.

It makes sense logically but then not...! it's been discussed many times before but does VA have the brand to fill a heavy up to HKG? Brand is so important for Asia and Virgin is MIA up there. Logically I think it would make sense but it would be a long hard slog to turn a dime and I think it would be safer to throw a a330 up to Asia first and build from there, better than them flying half empty trans-con!
