Virgin Lounge Food

Fair point, but if they're really chasing that small saving there's bigger problems afoot :P

Well I don't think they are really thinking of that, they just don't know what food to change to in the lounge, hence the BNE trial which is meant to stay in July now..........

How so? I doubt they take the food left out then re-serve it.

You must have missed biting into those hot dog buns.................it'd explain why they break in half like a Sao cracker!

not only is the taste/choice of the food in the lounge very ordinary but the quality is also substandard. I think the only thing i have used the lounge for in the last couple of years is a coffee for my early morning flights and on the way back to fly forward. If it wasnt for the international lounges and the international alliances ie, singapore & etihad, i would be long gone

Perhaps the great desire to brand everything "Luke Mangan" is a large part of the problem. There are literally thousands of restaurants, hotels, cafes, etc. throughout Australia that have no problem providing interesting and ever changing options for their patrons. Why not go down the semi-autonomous route that seems to be working for many hotels. There's still the option to offer a small selection of Luke Mangan branded items, but the vast majority of the offerings could be decided by the local catering staff.

Out of curiousity by long gone do you mean you'd be jumping to QF? Considering they are part of OW, have better lounges internationally and have EK as a partner, surely they would suit better?

yes that's right, i meant QF however the route i use the most (India) would leave me to the mercy of Malaysian airlines or Cathay in OW.

How about QF codeshare flights on 9W (Jet Airways) via SIN?

Something semi-substantial for brekkie would be great, and it doesn't need to be 'cooked'. I can hold off for dinner but early flights often mean having to skip brekkie at home (with few options on the way) and grab something in the lounge. I actually quite miss my bircher muesli fix I used to get in other lounges. Cheap, quick, easy, nutritious but infinitely more satisfying than a piece of toast or fruit salad.

i don't think you can earn status credits in Jet Airways - in any case that is going from bad to worse - the best flights/connections to India are on Singapore Airlines

Slightly OT:-
How about the Virgin Lounge Food??

On a QF flight number you do earn SC's.
Back on topic now :-)

Wow - Well done Virgin!

A nice cheap and filling warm meal, and something other than hot dogs!

Hopefully there was some sort of "topping" to go with the rice :)

Good stuff! Are they listening at last? The two soup choices was suggested not so long ago here on AFF and in winter is an excellent idea. Rice......great, but with what?

I'm also not quite sure what happened to "trialing a new menu in BNE" but what the heck, as long as it happens!

Congrats VA! (see how easy it is to attract bouquets rather than brickbats).

At least it's not some uninspiring LM 'signature" series DagWood Dogs or 'Cheeko" Rolls..

Salt and Pepper Calamari, Caviar and Lobster tonight in the Virgin Lounge
