Virgin Lounge Food

It's a daily rotation, sometimes you're lucky and you get bacon and eggs and then sometimes you get baked beans. From memory, the hot food selection sticks around until about 9, after that it's available until it runs out.
SYD yesterday morning had bacon and "poached" (Steamed in mold) eggs. (The looked more like slices of ham - no 'rasher' tails - I guess with the popularity of belly pork and all... ).

I honestly can't understand why these things only seem to be available at the two premium lounges (Syd/mel). The new(ish) PER lounge is huge, on par with the MEL lounge before its most recent size upgrade a year or so ago, yet there is never anything to eat there. Its pancakes or toasties all day every dang day ... oh and soup, of course, though no complaints there as its usually tasty. Actually the thing is, I like toasted sandwiches and pancakes, but just not all the time. Even a tiny bit of variation would be so so welcome in PER

I normally stick to muesli in the mornings at the lounge, not as glamourous as bacon and eggs but at least it's consistent - goes well with the fresh fruit and a barista coffee.

I'm currently in the Syd lounge where they are serving ravioli as the hot lunch option.

Haven't flown to Perth enough to comment on that, but hot food is regularly available Brisbane when I'm there in the morning too.

I had sausages and warm boiled eggs for breakfast a couple of weeks ago in the Perth lounge.

I was there yesterday morning and same was available. Bacon was the same - shortcut and limp and pale. It would be great if it had a bit of colour to it suggesting it had been in a pan.

3 trips through the lounge in the week prior - was a little underwhelmed at hot choices but once I struck it lucky with pancakes.

12 sectors this month and I'm a little over the lounge options and inflight snacks!

The only option I've had onboard lately is those Cadbury biscuit things, getting really sick of them. Never thought I'd be wanting to go back to those miniature sandwiches.

ditto, but struck it lucky with the little muesli bar on my last couple of flights

Wow! Really? I've traveled all over the shop timing wise and I've never ever, not once, been lucky in all these years. I always assumed it was due to the dingy old lounge, maybe no space out the back for preparation or something. Had quite some hopes when the lounge moved to T1 but have been consistently disappointed.

At least now I know that some amount of variation seems possible :)

Sounds like I need to ring the lounge first, see whats on offer at what times and book flights accordingly hahahahahehehehehe.

Yes - it's been those or the pretzel and soy crisps dependent on afternoon departure time.

At at least the morning offering muffin flavour changes.

OOL and MEL lunch yesterday had chicken and mushroom risotto - looked ordinary but was awesome!

MEL evening had shredded roast beef and gravy served in batard style 8" rolls - surprisingly good!

If its any consolation right now there is nothing but toasted sandwiches and a modicum of soup if you were game... I'm sorry, but it's really poor all things considered...

This past weekend I discovered there were no more strawberry-lime ciders. I only just discovered them earlier this year. :(

I remember seeing pancake machines in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Not a big fan of pancake made this way, same as with a barista vs nespresso

I thought the chicken and mushroom risotto was nice at first but four times in a bit over a week and I'm over it!

The 'snack' on the plane seems to be either the short Carmen's muesli bar or the lemony biscuit.

Received a survey from a flight on Friday and told them what I thought of the mini muesli bar
