Virgin Money Velocity High Flyer Visa & Flyer Visa - Point Hacks review

Earn rates haven't improved, but it looks like a decent churner for the sign-on bonus if you can make the minimum spend over the first 3 months. Apply by 31 October 2017.

For the Flyer:

For the High Flyer:

Anyone sure what a "new customer" is for Virgin Money? I held a card a year or so back.

Any way to manufacture $3k worth of spending?

Tks for posting Ufens - this is a nobrainer IMHO.

Isn't this a Citibank card? Have to endure all those wonderful call centres?

Whilst this looks attractive, the spending requirements would be way too high for me.

You could buy gift cards for Coles, WW towards the end of the period to ensure you reach the spend as a last case resort.

I applied yesterday for the High Flyer and noticed this in the acknowledgement email:
'please notify your payroll department (or accountant if self-employed) and authorise them to confirm your income and identity details when contacted by Virgin Money.'

Do they actually follow up with your employer? I haven't come across that before. Would be a massive pain as I work in the public service - I would rather not notify a giant HR team!

Over the decades and countless credit card applications I know that on at least some occasions that checks were made.

As a guess I would say that it is less common now that it used to be. Most likely as the providers have various more automated ways in assessing applicants.

$3k per month for 3 months means concentrating all spend to one card, but its probably achievable. Worth doing for 120k points - good offer. Need to wait a few weeks before I should apply for another CC but I think this one will be next.

Anyone sure what a "new customer" is for Virgin Money? I held a card a year or so back.

Thanks for the heads up Ufens!

I had a quick read of the t&c's and all I could determine was that new customers are not existing customers, I couldn't see any waiting periods. I'm also keen to know if anyone can confirm?

I'm currently waiting for my last lot of 10,000 points to post from the previous promo- despite this card being *the* most frustrating to get approval for, I am more than happy to jump on the bandwagon again!

if i pay my rent via deft i can easily hit 3k. Does anyone know if they would exclude that from the spend goal?

Re: Virgin Money Flyer 60,000/High Flyer 120,000, $129 flight voucher, annual fee $64

Applied 03/08 (Thursday) for the high flyer card. Uploaded documents using the online UI.

Bunch of calls from the call centre came through on Friday but I was unable to take them... picked up to one on Monday. CSR confirmed my financial details verbally and said that my payslips hadn't come through so I emailed them again on the spot. Got the email saying card was approved about 20mins later - not bad service considering it's Citi!

Now to make sure I hit the 3k spend per month. Can anybody who has a citi/virgin card confirm whether it's simple enough to track if certain spend is eligible or not through the website (for example, do council rates or car regos earn points)?
Or whether the "month" is a calendar month or a statement period?

Be good to know as I shift some things around.

Don't think I'd hit 3k a month spend, but 1.5k a month with the 60k points on a $64 dollar fee looks decent at the moment, given I'm stuck in exclusion period for most of the fee free first year offerings.

Re: Virgin Money Flyer 60,000/High Flyer 120,000, $129 flight voucher, annual fee $64

Applied last Saturday for the flyer card and got approved on Tuesday night. Didn't go the high flyer as the 3k spend each month was too high for me. Happy to hold this card for the minimum amount of time, pocket the 60000 points, then cancel given the shocking earn rate on it!

Yeah applied at night, then rang up the next day to make sure everything was in order.

Got an email approval about an hour later. Waiting on the card now.

Applied on Wed, loads of calls coming through in the day on thurs and fri while I was sleeping between night shifts.

Emailed the info requested early Friday morning then called through and did a bit of verbal confirmation then recevied an approval email about 30 mins after.

120K miles with the virgin credit and free lounge access aint a bad deal for $289

Not a bad offer at the moment, does anyone know if ato spend qualifies for minimum spend, I would think it would, I just won't receive any points for it, but for making the spend it should be fine? However if not I'll prepay some strata, council rates, and other bills.
