Credit Card Offers Virgin Money Velocity Flyer: Up to 60,000 bonus Velocity Points

Ive only just applied for the card on the 1st Mar and approved same day. Haven’t even got my card yet and they’ve sent me an e-statement for 2-3 Mar. Is this going to be an issue with meeting my spend? As in my first months gone without even having the card?

Same thing happened to me a year ago. I raised a case for clarification and the response was it won't affect the minimum spend.

So don't be concerned it won't affect the spend for bonus points. From memory it's just a statement for the annual fee.

Had the same user case - it did not affect my bonus points / minimum spend.
Got all my bonus points as signed up.

Does anyone know if you can have both the High Flyer and the Flyer card at the same time?

Card received today, however the last letter of my last name is missing (it's a short first + last name). Called virgin money, they claim it's my mistake, and explained me the process to fix it, which is a bit involved. This error needs fixing, as otherwise the name + VFF number won't match. I find it hard to beleive I made that mistake, but why not. Then I am very surprised there is no automated or manual hard check against my driver's licence, find it hard to believe they could pull my credit report with the missing letter. I don't seem to find a way to provide it was my, or their mistake, all virgin money emails just state my first name.

Any thoughts someone?

Were this Virgin Money mob run/organised/managed by Citibank previously? I’m encountering that level of dysfunctional behaviour…

- Application completed 3 Mar
- Then lots of emails/texts about completing and congratulating me on doing so.
- 5 Mar text message with application finalisation: we need to speak to you. Rang back - nothing needed. 🙄
- 14 Mar. rang to check status. Approved but we’ve sent you a letter. Me: “ever heard of email?”
- 15 Mar. letter stating application approved but they need to verify my identification by going to the post office. 🤷‍♂️ what? You can approve me but have done so without actually identifying me???
- 18 Mar. done at post office.
- check again today and still no card number generated!

Have had to put half the spend required through my Amex whilst waiting. And sick of dealing with poor quality calls to their call centre in India…

My conclusion: virgin money are idiots. Get min spend done and points and bonus VA status credits in the VFF account, then cancel asap.

Does anybody know how long it takes for the Velocity points to arrive?
I can see from my Virgin Money account that the 60k bonus points have been transferred out but it has not hit my Velocity account yet.
Do they hold it in a "points bank" somewhere?

Usually the points hit when the statement is issued, however my last statement there was a significant delay and the points hit 7 days later. When I called they indicated they can investigate it once 5 business days have passed

Thanks for replying.

Just for timeframe reference, I received the points yesterday evening.
All in all, it was around 1.5 days after the statement was issued.

Looks like it's random when the points decide to hit your account.

Applied for the $129 travel voucher using the form on the weekend. Travel bank was set up for me on Monday. But my travel bank balance is still $0. Is this normal? Will it eventually appear? If not, who do I call — Velocity or Virgin Money?

Edit: The people at Virgin must have been eavesdropping. The vouchers were just deposited in my travel bank.

Applied and rejected. Existing Citibank credit card customer. Wasted a credit check
I've found last time that I was rejected by Virgin Money, as an existing Citi Credit Card holder, it did not result in a credit check at all, just an instant rejection.
I cannot see any credit check entry on my credit files.
I imagine their back-end system matched up my data within Citi's system.
Hopefully that helps a bit.

I've been a holder of a Citi prestige for some time and have still been approved for the Virgin Money card. From memory NAB have a rule where if you have been rejected for one of their cards in the past 60 (?) days you will be auto rejected

I have found the same. Have been rejected by Citi 2 or 3 times over the last few years and no credit check each time.

Ah that's good to know.

I had not been rejected for any other cards, just wanted to churn to the Virgin Money credit card and then close the Citi account.

It did not work so I closed Citi first, waited two months, applied for a Virgin Money card and was then approved.

It’s the last 90 days from the date of rejection (according to a rep).

I’ve also found Citi itself to be the most sensitive. Been churning for 2+ years, including a lot of Citi backed cards but have never been approved by Citi itself so I just ignore them now, not worth the risk

Are Virgin Money open to reassessments much? My partner was rejected from her first CC, Standard Virgin Flyer card 6k limit. She does share a decent sized mortgage with her brother but there's no issue paying it, even if it brings in less than the payments. I don't want to push the idea if it's probably not going to happen though, took some effort to build her up to applying as is...
