Hey all!

Here are some really cool shot from Virgin Australia of the interior of the new 737 aircaft. This interior will be rolled out on the fleet by the end of the year.

Also note IFE has not yet been fitted, this will happen soon.

The first pic is the best.

The leather just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

I suggest you fly in them as the seats are so comfortable! The economy seats where custom designed by Hans Hulsbosch to be like the seats of a porsche race car.

Agreed - they're probably the most comfortable economy seats I've sat in.

And the leg room in row 3 is to die for.

I'd hope they are more comfortable than a race car.. they are some of the most uncomfortable seats I have sat in! They aren't built for comfort!

Qantas's seats may be good... when they are new! Eventually they get dirty, the cloth gets itchy, rips apart, and when you sit in them for long periods of time they get hot. Leather lasts longer, much more comfortable, they are the best economy seats in the market.

Having owned a Porsche 928s (not a racer though) with leather seats I don't know that's a selling point.:mrgreen: 20 years later my back still feels stiff.

The same set of photos recently posted to facebook?

They have a good cabin, other than that strange amount of legroom in row 3 and a lack of IFE. I can understand that digiplayers are easier to upgrade over time than built-in IFE but not completely sold on who they're targeting with a lack of it built in.

The bean counters, don't forget DJ is running cash flow negative! :-|

At least without built in IFE (either main screen or individual) we don't have to listen to "This is your captain speaking - well, maybe not today" before every single flight.

That's a pretty strong selling point all by itself IMHO :D

I'm a bit light on the details re IFE. AFAIK, Live2air is on all 737s.

Going forward, can anyone advise of the status of Live2air as an IFE option? with the reconfig of the 737 fleet, is Live2air being replaced by something else?

Leather was discussed elsewhere, sooo LCC - give me cloth for comfort any day!

In your opinion.

But the cloth ages very quickly and becomes very tacky and is much cheaper to install. Good quality leather like that used in the new Virgin interiors is more expensive and in my opinion more comfortable, and more aesthetically pleasing.

May I ask have you had a flight in the new seats? They are incredibly comfortable.

I am eager for the new ife as well. Live2air will be taken out, live2air wasn't fitted on planes being delivered from 2009 on-wards. When cabins get re-fitted id say around then when they get re-fitted they will be putting the new exciting ife solution in. So in 1-3 months, we will no of the ife solution.

Anyone know any gossip of the new ife?

But then that is your opinion! Personally I hate leather seats, but then that's my opinion too.. You said Virgin's seats cost more. Are you sure of that though?

Yes.........and yes :p

I agree totally. These new seats are very good. Hopefully, now I've upgraded to PE on Thursday, DJ may just grace me with a BSI beauty. Now that would be cool .

OMG finger crossed my PE ticket latter this year is in a new interior aircraft/BSI *crosses everything*

Yes I am sure, I have received the information from a very good source.

The seats may cost more, but the covers on cloth airline seats are easily removed for cleaning/sterilisation and are simply replaced with (re)fresh(ed) ones.

I do not get such a perspiration induced wetness on cloth seats that I do with leather. That's why I only flew JQi starclass on promo fares and am unlikely to fly starclass again under the current fare structure.
