If this information is in fact true, I dare say that you may be in violation of the 'Insider Information' policy that most publicly listed companies have (With slight variations from company to company) it usually goes a little something like this:

*The below is an extract from the Woolworths employee code of conduct, my opinions do not represent those of Woolworths Limited

Inside information is any information known by an employee that is not generally available to the public and that, if it were generally available, a reasonable person would expect it to have a material effect on the price or value of Woolworths Limited securities or the securities of any other Company.

Examples of information that might be inside information include information relating to:

- financial performance;
- a material acquisition or disposal of assets;
- an actual or proposed takeover or merger;
- an actual or proposal change to capital structure;
- the entry into or termination of a material contract; or
- a material claim or other unexpected liability.

Violation of policies like this can result in instant dismissal of the employee who told you this and I have no doubt they would come after you too...

Unless what you told us is not truthful?

Just my two cents ;) on with the show

I dont think DJ employ nightfill staff so its unlikely thats the source :p Also not sure how a codename of a new IFE would be price sensitive on the ASX, its public knowledge that one is coming, no big deal, QF have had IFE for a long time but still insist on giving out newspapers at the gate because its hardly entertainment.

There is a difference between 'speculating' and 'having information'

You specifically said that you had more info on the IFE system, where did you get said info? there is only one place it could have come from it is true...

But you are also assuming he works for Virgin? And how many other leaks have been posted on here too! :?:

Jack
do you know how long untill they will announce and begin installing the new ife?
I'd say very shortly in the next 1-3 months. They will most likely install the new ife when they re-fit the current planes with the new interiors, so it sounds right to install the new system around October-December. So very shortly we will have an announcement on the new ife, but that's my guess, we are just mighty hopeful!

Maybe the source is a NTL refueller, they are the modern day corner store owner when it comes to whats happening in Aviation?

I have more sources is what i mean. I am only speciating, and i defintely do not work for virgin... yet ;)

That is the shortened version of that policy, the full version is much more in depth and includes a lot more than price sensitive information, I was using it as an example as there is no doubt in my mind that DJ have a similar policy

its public knowledge that one is coming, no big deal, QF have had IFE for a long time but still insist on giving out newspapers at the gate because its hardly entertainment.

I'm aware of that, but the poster implied that he had obtained factual information about such system, which I find very hard to believe given how tight lipped the official reps are being about this

I'm a cashier actually (Checkout chic if you want to sound bogan :lol:)

My apologies to you nlagalle, that was poor wording on my part and for that I am sorry...

Should read:

The person who told you this is in breach of said policy and by distributing this information publicly you are just as much in the wrong as they are

For a "checkout chic" you certainly have status in enough schemes! :shock:

What can I say, I like to covered from all angles, the way I split my pay check is very easy (20% Living expenses, 80% Travel) ;)

I've only done 3 shifts at WW, FYI, stores in TAS don't accept EDR (I can just imagine how many people shuddered just now :lol:)

But I'm totally off topic now, lets drift back onto the topic at hand ;)
